I would like to hear from anyone who has knowledge of the parents, siblings, or children of Freedom and Ann (Latham) Chase. Freedom was born Jan-Jun 1799, Hebron, Washington, NY. Ann was born abt 1804, Greenwich, Washington, NY. This couple lived most of their life after marriage in Warren County, NY.
All of my research has been from a distance, and consequently I have been unable to verify some of the information that I have acquired. I would be happy to hear from descendants in any of the lines. I am interested in local histories, news items, letters, etc. - anything that would fill out the history of this family. I know this has been brought up in the past. If you would like to flame me, please do so directly and not on this list.
Thank you,
Patricia Inman

My grandfather F. Earl Chase was a male direct descentant and also wrote a genealogy of Thomas' side of the family. While I am a Chase through my mother I might be able to help with the lines. My Grandfather's reseach is extensive and goes back to Thomas through Rebuen Chase who served with John Paul Jones. I am a member of SAR and my Mother was a member so documentation to verify relationships is good. My cousin and his male children are if Thomas. I have meant to scan the geneolgy book so that the research on Thomas' side of the family could be better researched.

My earliest known Chase ancestor was a "Yeoman of Chesham", but I have not been able to prove any link to the documented Chase family of that area (see http://familytree.chasegray.co.uk/317.htm). My DNA is included in the chart, and I continue to hope that a descendant of the Chesham family will be found. However, AH Noble (The Chase Family, Heraldry Today, London, 1967) was unable to trace descendants beyond the 19th Century, so the chances of finding anyone are not good.

The New England Historical Society in Boston has a copy of the Book for sale. Past President George Sanborn is Aquila descendant. I am DAR descendant of Jonathan b. 1751 Newbury md Hannah Merrill 1773 Newbury (Nathan, Thomas, Aguila) Jonathan's son George moved to NY and has DAR descendants in DAR chapter there. I am also member of Sons & Daughters of 1st Settlers of Newbury, MA. Aquila's son Thomas was also in King Phillips War and descendants eligible for Colonial Daughters as well. I can help with descendants of both Jonathan and older Brother Edmund (md Esther Merrill). They moved to Maine in late 1790's with war/land grants with grown children born in Mass but md in Maine and then had children born in Maine before migrated on to Ohio (John Merrill Chase, Athens Co-Meigs Co is another line but intersect occassionally), Minn, Wis, Kan, Iowa & Neb. I have most of the migratory lines until Maine born children married, died in civil war or moved further west. This is the
generation where most of the difficulty arises when seeking lineage.

Just an annual reminder that we continue to hope that a 'proven' Thomas
Chase (of Hampton, NH) male line descendant will surface and participate in
our DNA testing so that we might more conclusively validate (or totally
disprove) the assumed sibling relationship with Aquila.
We also continue to look for anyone (male) who is not an Aquila/Thomas
descendant but can validly trace their male line ancestry back to the
Chesham, England Chase family line, so that we might see how their DNA
compares to that of the Aquila descendants.

From my online version of the Cape Cod Times, I have just learned that
the Chase hundred year old library in West Harwich, MA, will most
likely be closing in a year due to lack of funding.
"While Chase is celebrating its centennial anniversary, the library
began providing a service to the community before it was built. A group
of ladies known as “The Sunshine Club” ran a lending library out of the
present day Claddagh restaurant until the number of books grew too
great. O’Neill said land was deeded for the library by Dr. John P.
Nickerson in 1905 and philanthropist Caleb Chase and his wife Salome
agreed to construct the library.
“It’s a hard way to celebrate the centennial anniversary of
the building, trying to shut us down.” O’Neill said. “If this happens
then you’d have another empty building right behind the sign that says
‘Welcome to Harwich.’"

The Cape Cod Chronicle
This is the Caleb Chase of Chase & Sanbourn Coffee.
Being that there are so many Chase's listed in the book it is some times
easier to search for the other surnames. So if you have this info it would
help since they do list the other surnames in a separate index. Plus they
also have separate listings for Aquila's line and Thomas's line so if you
know which one the descend from it's more of a help.
So please supply as much info as you can to help in the lookup.
Thanks

HELLO Lisa,
I am looking for a connection to your Chase family for Edwin W.
Chase b. in New Hampshire 1819,( m. to Jane of VT parents of George
Edwin Chase b. VT 1846 and Mary Jane Chase, b. VT 1855).
I would like to know his parentage and where he was born and how he
connects --if he does. If there is any more information in the book
about this branch I would like to know that also as our ggrandmother
was married to George E. Chase in the 1870 Burlington VT census.
Thank you for offering to do look-ups.

Seven Familes of Aquila Chase?
Didn't know that Aquila was a polygamist! Just kidding. The title of the book is SEVEN GENERATIONS OF THE DESCENDANTS OF AQUILA & THOMAS CHASE, By J.C. Chase & G.W. Chamberlain, and is still in print. It's available for sale, and is in the genealogy section of many libraries. Although I don't own it, several people here do, and would be willing to help your mother if she has a specific question.
