Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hello Keith,
I am certainly eager and willing to help in anyway I can (administration of

Re book "The Chase Family" by Arthur H Noble. Does anyone know where it is online. I have tried a number of book stoes here in Australia without success.

I don't know anything about the genealogy of O.R. Chase, or if he's ever been mentioned here, but it's very interesting.

"Oliver R. Chase of Boston invented and patented a lozenge cutter, the first American candy machine. His company, Chase & Co., was the forerunner to the family of companies now known as Necco."

"Oliver R. Chase of Boston invents and patents the first American candy machine, a lozenge cutter. This marks the founding of the nation's candy industry, the beginning of commercial manufacture. With his brother, Silas Edwin, he founds Chase and Company, the pioneer member of the NECCO family."

Hi,Barb and Jeffrey,
Jeffrey your offer looks good to me and I would advise Barbra to accept.
If you so wish ,Barb, I am quite happy to put it on your page in the
Imagemap.
Jeffrey, I could do with your skills HOWEVER you may balk at the job of
trying to interpret the handwriting of a Junior Officer in the Australian
Army in WWI. He wrote about 20 pages of over 800 pages of the War Diary of
the 53rd battalion of the Australian Imperial Forces in World War 1. Some of
this was in extreme conditions as a chunk out of several pages bear witness
of the path of a shell fragment. Seriously my brother is having it
transcribed by someone he knows and is easy to contact for queries.
Yours is a great offer to Barb,

Hi,Barb,
When I wrote to NS Archives they refered me to the N.S. land Registry
office.
If you go to my site.( see below), and click on "Archives, Records and
Deeds"
and follow Canada-Nova Scotia links you will see a link to the NS Archives.
I did all this about 3 years ago and had forgotten that they had a "Land
Grant On-Line" index
Anyway I have no doubt that a searh for "Public Archives of |Nova Scotia"
and/or public "Archives of New Brunswick" will put you on the right path.
It should be remembered that if your ancestor was one of those who went to
what is now known as New Brunswick, shortly after the end of the REV. War
and settled in St John or what is now known as New Brunswick, then their
records of Land Grant applications will be found in Nova Scotian archives
for N.B. had not been formed then and was part of Nova Scotia.
This is what happened to me. Fortunately as I had written to the NB
Archives they put me straight.
I have just tried thr link to NS archives and the link is "Broken",
(Something else for me to mend!). However just below it is the link to
Ontario archives and a searchable Census index which shows 120 Chase entries
if anyone may be interested.

Hi,Barb,
You should try looking in Nova Scotian Land records and also
New Brunswick as that was part of Nova Scotia, initially.
I do not know if you can access these records on line as I did my research
over 11 years ago, I wrote to them with an International reply paid coupon
to cover their postage costs. It took 6 weeks to get a reply but I got
"Chapter & Verse"
onmy HUMEs including copies of Card Indexes and modt amazingly an extract
from a different persons file that was an answer to a problem I had
encountered.. I found my ancestors thru a Land Grant request and ultimately
obtained a copy of the Grant which allowed me to visit the exact spot of the
Grant
Hope this helps

Hi Maxine,
I noticed that "your Chase's" came from Saratoga Co., NY. Have you come
across a Juda Chase that was there in late 1700's?

As of now those names are not familiar, but I'm still trying to find all the
brothers and sisters. So far we think we've identified the following:
Susanah, Charolette, Polly/Mary, Walter,Jr, and John
Do these sound familiar to you?
Judi
Hi,Dolores,
I do not understand this. I assume you are refering to the database?
I have no trouble but the Site owner transferred the whole thing from surnameweb which he also owns
Is anyone else getting the same problem?

Hi, Dolores,
Up to and including George Bedford Chase we shar the same ancestors.
The best way to answer your question is to direct you to the link below.
Click on the Database item on the opning page and see for yourself.
I believe you have missed a generation.
When you search enter CHASE in the surname and James Earle in the second window
You will see what I mean.
I hope you do not mind me showing you where to find it other than doing it myself and sending you the answer.
The database includes 12,000 + names and includes spouses and their parents but not other relatives otherwise it would contain many more entries

There is a "Log in" on the page you initially open for using the database,
but I'm not sure why it's there since you just ignore it and enter your
search names (upper right window) and the database opens immediately to show
the list of names that meet your search criteria.

Hi,Dolores,
I do not understand this. I assume you are refering to the database?
I have no trouble but the Site owner transferred the whole thing from
surnameweb which he also owns
Is anyone else getting the same problem?

Thanks greatly. Guess I'm a bit obtuse cuz the "thing" keeps wanting me
to log in before I get the info I'm looking for. Oh well, I'll muddle
through it!

Hi, Dolores,
Up to and including George Bedford Chase we shar the same ancestors.
The best way to answer your question is to direct you to the link below.
Click on the Database item on the opning page and see for yourself.
I believe you have missed a generation.
When you search enter CHASE in the surname and James Earle in the second
window
You will see what I mean.
I hope you do not mind me showing you where to find it other than doing
it myself and sending you the answer.
The database includes 12,000 + names and includes spouses and their
parents but not other relatives otherwise it would contain many more entries
