Good evening All,
I have now reconstructed the Chase/Chace Website with a few exception of a relatively small nature.
A few pages need bringing up to date.
Having not managed to update the site since I obtained Broadband I had not appreciated firstly how some sections loaded in minutes where previously one section took nearly 3 hours. Also I could have the website opened while I made additions/alterations via FTP transfer.
There have been a few queries regarding the Chase/Chace database but if this is accessed via the Chase/Chace website then I encountered no problen and in fact quite enjoyed using the "Relationship" facility to find how I related to others.
2 of the biggest sections are the 2 versions of the Chase Chronicles. The first of these is a complete transcription, including pictures and ads, made by the tireless Lonnie and Maryetta Chase nd each issue is indexed The second is not complete but has been broken down into separete articles which I have catergorised for Aquila,William,Thomas and genral caregories.
I would like your opinions as to which format you prefer as I believe that having both on the site is stretching the good relationship between us and the WebHost.
In the very near future I should have gained access to the data in the database.
I know that some of you have been concerned about details of Living individuals I believe it may be possible to remobe Birth dates from all thos who have not got details of death.
To plough through 12,500 names t edit each one is a task I am not prepared to undertake so if the Group, as a whole, has not objection I will see if it is possible to remove Birth dates of Living individuals,
Finally, I was pleased to see the sudden increase in the DNA project. Certainly it looks as if, given enough tests that analysis will prove to a high degree of certainty the descendancy of those to both William and Aquila and possibly Thomas.
For those of you, like myself , who are descended from a female Chase, we may have to grin and bear unless like me you have definitive proof that your female Chase/Chace ancestor was the daughter of a Chase/Chace father then that would be some consolation.
Ok I have "rattled " on sufficiently so I will sign off, drink my cocoa and go to bed, and look forward to hearing your views re the Site. nd maybe any suggestions for improving.
at www.chase.genealogysurnames.com
Finally, I use large type on the Index page as it lessens the strain on my eyesight and , doubtless others also

Doris,
Again, many thanks. I can use this information to further the research.
The William Henry perhaps may be a clue as to why one of Wallace's son's had
this name.

I show Mabel's maiden name as being "Lodge". Nothing else on her.
Wallace F. Chase died in March 1949 in St. Louis, MO. I don't have his birth
date.

Hi,Lonnie,
I also was a "victim" of a generous researcher and like you have tried to
help others but your work has been incredible for this group.
Lisa Cleversley got hold of the Chase site owners address and telephone
number so I will give hism a call this evening
Dennis Partridge is the owner of both the Chase server and the family.com
one as well.
I am surprised if he has used our data on his site and wants to charge for
it.

With all the conversation about people named James Chase, I thought I
might as well add this one in case anyone knows anything about him.
In my tree I have a Caroline Chase, b. Dec 1842 in Haverhill, MA,
married before 1860 John Barnes, died 9 SEP 1907 in Ballston, Saratoga
County New York. According to Family Search, her parents are James
Chase and Lydia Alby, both born in Massachusetts. Anyone know anything
about James and Lydia? I know some about Caroline and John if that
interests anyone.
I suspicion, but do not yet know of, a connection between Caroline and a
Lydia Chase, b. 11 NOV 1789, Haverhill, MA, married Ephraim COLBY, Jr.,
also of Haverhill, 24 JUL 1806, and having 8 children bet 1806 - 1831.
Does anyone know anything about this family?

Keith:
Your gg grandmother Sarah Chase Hume would have the mtDNA of her mother
Elizabeth Chase (James P. Chase's wife). Her son George (your g grandfather)
would carry the Y-chromosome DNA of her husband, Peter, as well as her
mtDNA. But George, in turn, would pass on only the Y DNA to his son, John,
your grandfather, so the Chase link would be "lost" with respect to the
mtDNA.

To Whom it may concern,
I just tried posting this message to the list, but I'm
not sure I did it right.
I have in my posession a booklet commemorating the
10th anniversary of the Cheery Chase Club for the
Blind. I've had the booklet for about 10 years. In
the front of the Booklet is black and white photograph
of a bunch of blind people wearing their best clothes
and of course all holding their white walking canes.
The book is full of quotes from these people singing
the praises of a Mr. George Everett Chase for bringing
meaning back into their lives, etc.
The Way I came into posession of the book is that
apparently a ms. Yvonne Charlotte Richeleau received a
copy of the book around the early 1900's. As far as I
can tell she was some sort of a famous model at the
time and must have been close friends with Mr and Mrs.
Chase. When Ms. Richeleau passed away, a lot of her
belongings were left to a family in the hills of
Missouri. They passed down those belongings in the
family until they sold the house-and EVERYTHING IN IT
to my family. I am writing to find out who can give
me more information about the Cheery Chase club for
the blind, as well as Ms. Richeleau and her
relationship to the Chase's as I have many of her
other posessions as well, including personal
correspondence between her and a Mr. and Mrs. Governor
Knight of California. Any information you have will
help. I've been searching for 10 years for
information about all of this and your email list is
the first that I've found of any of this.
God Bless,

Mr. Chase is also extremely philanthropic, he is

Kathy,
I see your mention of Vt. Chase relatives. My X4 Grandmother was Susannah
Chase born in Montreal in 1803. From some Brooks family info a reference is
made to several families of Brooks, Chase, and Harris moving to Canada from
Chester, Windsor County, Vermont. We think her father may have been a Walter
Chase.
Siblings may have included Charolette, John, and Walter, jr.
Have you come across this family in looking for your Chase relatives in Vt.?
Judi
Interesting note, Dennis Partridge also owns familytree.com the site in
question. Interesting....
Keith I do have Mr. Partridge's mailing address if you would like to contact
him that way, I also located his phone number (not sure if you want to make
a overseas call ) let me know if you want the info.

As many on this list may remember my trying to find Wallace. He has been found, but now there are other questions yet to be answered. Wallace first married Mabel (do not know her maiden name). They were found on the 1920 census in Little Rock Ark., county of Pulaski, Big Rock Township. Apparently Mabel owned a hotel there and Wallace is listed as, husband and manager, Mabel of course was listed as head.
When I found the obit for Wallace, it states that he had the following relatives.
William F. B. Chase and Charles F. Chase (assume these are his two sons). Also listed is a Mrs. Grace Schmeizer of Little Rock. Not sure what relation she may have been. At the time of Wallace's death, he was married to Mamie(Smith), my g-grandmother.
My question is: Would anyone know of this family and who Mabel may have been before she married Wallace ?
Also, found the cemetery where Wallace is buried (per the obit), which is Pinecrest-Memorial Park and Garden Mausoleum Inc., between Little Rock and Bryant on Hwy 5. In the same cemetery are those listed below. Would anyone be able to tell me about them?
If they are related, and their deaths having been not so long ago, perhaps someone out there may know something pertaining to Wallace and Mabel and their family.
George E. Chase d/27 Oct. 1997
Lewis F. Chase d/18 Jan. 1999
Mabel Chase d/19 June 1946
Mary M. Chase d/28 March 2002
Ruth P. Chase d/18 Jan. 1999
Thank you,

Hi,Roberta,
Firstly I am in England so American law is somewhat different to ours.
The problem may be that the data was put on their web site either by a member of the Chase list,( I did give a cd with the gedcom on it to some mebers).
Alternatively it may have been given by the owner of the Server of the Chase site.
I do not believe we can stop familytree.com and Ancestry.com from using the data and selling.
I may be wrong.
I am trying to contact Dennis Partridge who owns both the Surnameweb and Genealogy surnames site.
I need to search my own archies to find what the Site address was immediately after the big crash on Surnameweb.
It is unfortunate that I had an accident and dropped my 3 backup portable Hard Drives on the floor and only one now works. One of the other 2 I used only for video and film editing.
To add to my woes I have some people who have asked to have details of living relatives removed.
At this time I am unable to access the site to alter or remove data.
Please bear with me as I have so many things going on at this time as I am expecting my Aussie cousins here in a week's time

Mr. Hume;
is there a way to organize Chase family members who feel exploited or violated by Chase.familytreeguide.com and get an injuntion to prevent them from distributing this personal information for profit? I'd be interested and willing to help. Im one of a few up here in Maine that digs and helps others voluntarily and I'd hate to think others might be exploiting that information-and hard to believe they are Chases at all.
Sincerely
Bertie

January 1917 issue of the Chase Chronicle
INTERMENTS: NOT SURE OF PLACE OF
BURIALS
ISAAC CHASE,
Son of Daniel and
Martha Kimball.
Feb. 27, 1786.
about 98. (Scrofulous sores.)
Born in West Newbury.
HANNAH (Berry) CHASE,
Wife of Isaac Chase.
May 6, 1771.
aged about 83.
She lived with her husband above 60
years and hath left of her posterity above
90 children and grand children, and great
grand children; the last being 25 children.
"She died with a cancer."
VANDALISM
Next to stealing a corpse is the crime of stealing a grave stone. It's
too late now to prosecute the men who stole the stones from ISAAC CHASES
private yard. He gave an acre near his home on the Blackstone River for a
grave yard for his own family and his neighbors.
A few years ago, we were trying to locate the resting place of Isaac and
his family. We found the lot from his deed and his will. But we could
find no grave stones or graves. A lot of cows were feeding on the lot.
An old man living nearby said the
bodies were there but all the stones were carried off years ago when they
were building a new mill on the river. They were "awful short" of flat
stones the old man said, so they took all the stones from Mr. Chase's yard
and they "came in very handy."
Mr. Chase and his family had all died or moved away, and the stones were
deliberately stolen and put into the mill. This is not so very strange. A
few years ago the writer was trying to get facts concerning some old
families in a town in Essex County, Mass. He made no headway, but he found
a live man smoking his pipe nearby. Upon inquiry he found that a few years
before some enterprising landscape artist took the job to beautify the old
cemetery. He laid it out like an amphitheatre, gently rising from the
street, putting the taller stones at the rear and making aisles as he
pleased. In carrying out this regeneration he plowed up much of the land,
and very piously put all the upturned bones into a big dry goods box and
sunk the box and covered it in a lower corner of the yard where it would be
"safe." Then arranging the stones according to size and color, there
were very few bodies anywhere near where they first were buried; but as the
native said he was good enough to save most of the stones, but if they were
broken or would not fit into his scheme he piled them up nearby in the back
part of the yard and there they are.
This is simply damnable, but it's true. This is just as bad as it is to
steal a corpse.
Hi James,
I am a decesdant of Isaac Chase through his son Henry...who was the uncle
of your Nathaniel! My Henry moved to Petersham and then to Vermont from
Sutton/ Millbury and that was where my Chase line is from.
Nice to meet you cousin!!
The Worcester Library has a great section on Genealogy. It was in the
registers of the Daughters of the American Revolution in the library that I
found the information about Henry's service in the revolution. You will find
Nathaniels there. Check with a local chapter of the DAR or the Worcester
library.
It was also in the Worcester Library that I found the information that
stated that Isacc died of scrofula...tuberculosis...and that Hannah Berry,
his wife...died of "a lump in the breast". I found it interesting to find
an 18th century ancestor who died of breast cancer...since there is an issue
with it in the females in my family today.
Lonnie Chase who is also on this list is also a decesdant of Isaac.
