Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hi ya all,
Let's hope someone out there is researching all of the early connecting names
to the Chase bunch---William's line.
In the book Pioneer Period Period and Pioneer People of Fairfield County,
Ohio by Wiseman on page 282 and 283 it lists the following information: The
ancestry of Samuel Tallman is of interest: He and his father were born in
Berks County, Penn. His father and grandfather William Tallman (born in
Rhode Island) moved to Virginia (Rockingham Co.) during the time of our
national struggle for independence. The son was a member of Armand's Corps
as part of --------
His grandmother was Ann Lincoln, sister of John Lincoln---------and there's
lots more written here. Question here is this:
There was a William Tallman who married 1 Feb. 1787 to Hannah Chase b Mar 15
1745/50. Do you have any connecting information about this at all? The name
Slough was also mentioned in this article as a Judge.
Help please

I apologize to posting to the lists at large, however address books do not
survive hard drive crashes or "restorations"
Many of you very kind folks have asked for updates on my son Ed Webler, in
kidney failure.
Well, the day has come!
August 31 at the Virginia Mason, Seattle, his brother will be "transferring"
one of his kidneys to him.
Based the results of testing and genealogical information we do have, it
could appear that kidney deficiencies run through my CHASE line.
Your prayers, positive thoughts or whatever! much appreciated at this time.
Thanks Harriet

Hello to Everyone!
I am only writing because of a bad situation that has come up that affects
every domain on the internet.
There are several companies who are offering free software to "enhance" the
browsing experience of surfers. This software is paid for by advertisers
who "buy" keywords. Unlike search engines that allow people to buy keywords
and then lists links to the appropriate sites, these keywords are taken from
the text of YOUR web pages.
When a surfer visits your site, the software on their computer finds its
advertisers' keywords in your text, creates a link to their site and
highlights in yellow the first time it appears. Then it double underlines
that word every time it appears on the page.
Another version put out by Gator - you know the software that helps keep
track of your passwords? - added a feature that creates pop-up windows or
replaces banner advertising you may have posted on your site with THEIRS.
NOTE that these packages are included in Bundled software as one feature -
so often the user does not even know they are installing it.
What all this means is that if you have an affiliate program with banners -
the pop-ups and Gator banners "hover" over yours and remain there as you
scroll down the screen. If you had a PAID advertiser - let's say for Ford
Trucks - the word "truck" might be highlighted in yellow and a link placed
there to a site selling "Dodge Rams."
It gets worse - Whatever the subject of YOUR SITE might be - e-commerce,
books, music, etc. would be used to direct your visitors to your
COMPETITORS.
In the case of the yellow underlining software - it is an EZULA product and
originated from a company in the Netherlands for which ownership is
currently untraceable. MicroSoft wanted to include this feature with their
new XP operating system, but thought better of it. It may be, however, that
they are partners or owners of the Netherlands company.
If you have EVER installed Gator on your computer and have noticed a lot of
pop-up ads appearing recently, please note that even though you have
uninstalled it, remnants of it remain on your computer. The same is true
for the Ezula program. Consequently, they continue to work as they search
for ANY component of their software in order to utilize their scheme.
We are incorporating some links here to more information and articles, BBS
boards, removal software and hopefully a KILLER SCRIPT that you can include
in every one of your web pages to prevent the unauthorized use of your
website.
We also have written the NIPC (FBI department of the Internet), David Farber
(privacy issues addressed by the FCC) and in future may consider initiating
a class action suit as this may very well be fraud, theft, copyright
infringement and interfere with free speech and free enterprise and should
be treated as such in the meantime.

top-quality web hosting, but to keeping the internet a viable, honest form

All,
Let us be clear on these matters
The CDROM was my idea and my project and I am solely responsible for
the
ENTIRE concept including distribution.
I have been greatly aided by some of you most notably Lonnie and Craig
but there were others who made significant contributions.
1) Errors in running the cdrom.
I compiled, researched, and collated the cdrom.
I made a mistake in the directory structure. I will not go into the reasons
why and how.
Dann did some work on it to correct it.
Neither he nor I know why it is not working properly for some people, but it
appears to have something to do with the directory structure
2) I am SOLELY responsible for the error that the notification for purchasing
was not sent correctly to the CHASE-L list.
The only excuse I have is that the great amount of interest in it due to
Rootsweb including the fact that it was available in their Newsletter side-
tracked me.

Hi list,
I have a GEDCOM of Eleazor (Moses, Moses, Aquilia) and his descendants that I would like to submit to the Chase Surname web page. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
Thanks,
Janelle
Me too! Rather "me neither" I have NOT seen any postings on the list in
regards to the public availability of the CD. Initially at first I thought
it was me; rather my computer, as it has NOT been kind to me this summer.

Thank you for FINALLY posting this information on how to PURCHASE the CD.
You may not be aware, but this information never did reach the list before
your post today. I have been waiting for this - not wanting to bother you
directly. I have routinely checked my CHASE-L email as well as all the
archived CHASE-L posts (in case I somehow deleted such inadvertently) - and
no, it is not there. Thank you for all your work on this.

Some of you who have received the Chase cdrom have experienced some
difficulty in opening it.
I feel I may have been largely responsible for this due to my lack of
experience in making a cd. This was my first attempt and also for the first
time I used the latest "all singing all dancing" HTML editor.
I will not go into the "gory" details but like some late versions of Windows
I realise it may have been too helpful.
Dann is working furiously to correct the problem so if you have difficulty
I can assure you it will be corrected very shortly.
While on this subject I would appreciate ANY feedback on the CDROM
what you liked and disliked any problems etc.
As I have mentioned I am signing off the list in the near future, ( I am NOT
changing my email address so if any of you may wish to contact me there
is no problem), to concentrate on my HUME family cdrom so I will
appreciate all comments and suggestions--good or bad.

HELP: Andria Chase is descended from Wm(1) Chase who was born in 1550 in
England. She married Luther Cole in 1802. Does anyone know the names of
any of her children?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
