I am trying to research my family history and am having very little luck on
my family namesake (Chase). My grandfather was Edward Alonzo Chase b.
1/28/1904 in Olalla, Washington. Married my grandmother Mabel Fields in
?1929. His SSN# 533-32-2882. My grandfather passed away in 1984. He appeared
to be full blooded Native American, but would never admit to it. His
father's name was Osceolla or Oceolla Chase and wife was named Mary (who
also appeared to be Native American), I am not really sure of the spelling.
My grandfather had on brother named Robert that I have no information on.
All I know is that Robert lived in Oregon most of his life. With so little
to go on I feel that I don't have much chance at tracing my family roots on
the Chase side of the family. My dad (Jerry Chase) knows very little about
the Chase family history.
If you have any ideas on how to gather more information about my family I
would love to hear from you or anyone else who may have any information that
would be helpful.
Thank you,
Jim Chase - Seattle, Washington

All,
For some time I have been giving some thought to the idea of
producing a CHASE cdrom and have spoken to one or two of the
Group about this.
Initially it was only going to cover the family of William Chase "..of
the First Fleet". However I have since calculated that, published
books apart, the sum total all the Groups knowledge could easily fit
onto one cdrom.
The idea would be to include articles, some already written, some
new, a database ,graphics,(if available) of historical documents and
anything else you may think appropriate.
As this would be in electronic form it would not be necessary to
have the same structure as a book but would need to include a
search engine to enable easy access to the information.
I would be willing to produce/compile the master cd and the idea
would be to make copies available to the Group members at cost
which I would estimate would be minimal.
I would like your comments and as I beleive this is appropriate
such comments copied to this list.
It is unlikely that the project could be completed by the time of the
reunion on June 9th but this has the bonus that ,if you think the
project has merit, the content could be finalised.
I should state that at this time It is unlikely I can make the trip, this
time,

Keith, your cdrom idea sounds like a great idea and you can add me to the
list of people who would like to share the cost.

Hi Keith...and Hello Group!
I think this is a great idea. I'm in, and can help sparingly.
Sorry I have been away so long. New home, etc., have kept me quite busy.
Best,

I had posted this on the Vermont List, but at "Some Body's" request I am
sharing ;0)
This not only is very intriguing but can get you to what would appears to be
all the Catholic Diocese (s) ? in the world.
Historical documents re on line also.
Happy hunting

Do you remember when you signed on to your first mailing list? Remember
how scared you were of making a mistake? Remember when you MADE your
first mistake?
I do, I signed on to my first mailing list in Jan 1996. I thought I was
helpping my fellow researchers by sending in a virus warning, I didn't
know it was a hoax. Because of this mistake I was yelled at and treated
baddly, I almost quit. Thank goodness a kind soul wrote me and
explained that those emails weren't true and shouldn't be send to the
mailing list. I'm sure alot of you have made mistakes and got the
emails too.
PLEASE everyone before you send an email yelling at someone for a
mistake think back to when you were a beginner. Instead of the harsh
email send a helpping email, you never know the person you may yell at
may have the connection you need.
For those of you who are new the following messages are not for the
list; Virus warnings, telephone charges, if so many emails are send then
this organization will donate so much, messages in all Capital letters
(this is read as yelling on the internet), poems. In short if it's not
Genealogy related don't send it. If your not sure then ask me.

CHASE-D-request(a)rootsweb.com writes:
<< William Chase I , son of Sir Richard Chase, was born in England in 1589.
William married Mary Townley and came to America in 1630 on the ship

William came with Governor Winthrop's fleet but there is no evidence that he
was on the lead ship "Arabella". If so, please tell me the source.
Also, "The Chase Family Story" compiled by: Richard Chase Fassett &
Rosalind Chase Bush seems to repeat many of the old unfounded Chase myths.
Too bad. Hope the Fassett/Bush authors provide their sources.

I am new to the CHASE Rootsweb group
& am looking for my husband's GrGrGrandfather and back. I believe that
since his GrGrandfather, Henry CHASE, from Woodstock, Vt. is so close to
the lines you show in today's Digest, one of those "cousins" might know
of a child or sibling named Henry, or any name? for that matter, who
moved to Woodstock, Windsor County, Vermont, sometime before about 1830.
By about 1850, Henry & his wife, Sara (Haskel) CHASE together with their
children born in Vermont moved to St. Louis, Mo. & Hillsboro, Montgomery
Co., Illinois. Lyna (CHASE) Souther, my husband's mother, daughter of
Charles Dennison CHASE son of Henry S. CHASE who was born abt. 1825 in
Woodstock, Vermont. I could not find Henry in the
"...Thomas & Aquilla CHASE" book.
I know this information is quite vague but I hope one of you may have a
clue for me.

Hi. Could someone inform me concerning the
"Chase Family Story" compiled by Richard
Chase Fassett & Rosalind Chase Bush. Is this
book currently in print and available for purchase?
Thanks, Barbara
There were 16 Chase on the Miller Cherokee Roll (Rejected). I did not
check the accepted roll. They were Cecil (ga), Charles M. (MO), Cordelia
(MO), James N and James N (?) (GA), James W (MO), John (OK), Lleota (MO),
Minta (KS), Narcissa (TN), Nola (TN), Ollie (OK), Riley (MO), Sarah J.
(OK), Thomas A. (MO), Wm J. (GA).
There is a new academic study of the roll talking about how applicants
were accepted, rejected, description of the roll, results of emigration,
etc. The table of contents of the roll is at
http://members.aol.com/rarebk
The site also has a number of Indian genealogical sources, such as the
1835 Cherokee census (posted on-line, inside a Cherokee Genealogy
Tutorial which is a great primer on how to do effective Indian genealogy
research), other indexes, and a Native American CD which appears to
contain huge amounts of Native American genealogical material. Very
fascinating.
