Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Rose & Derek,
For all those bits & pieces of information that I find regarding people who are
currently 'unconnected', I use a separate database. Later on, if a connection is
made, it is easy to transfer the stuff over, via a gedcom file, import/export, cut &
paste, or whatever your particular genealogical program supports. Works for me!!

HI List-
Speaking of President GARFIELD, my father always said that we were related
to President Garfield. So far I have not been able to find this evidence
and I do not know if it is on the CHACE/CHASE side (Dad's maternal) or the
NORMAN side - his paternal. Do any of you Listers show any familial
relationship to President Garfield on the Chace/Chase side?

Hello Fellow Chase(s)
Caught a segment yesterday on President GARFIELD - who had written a
letter to Samuel Portland Chase in the 1880's - it was presented by the
National Archives curator of documents ( or similar title ) a show
n'tell of Garfield documents the archives have on file....I hope the
documents were copies as the gentleman handling them was without any
cotton gloves on....and he was handling all the other papers quite
casually....made me shutter at the thought of moisture transfering from
his fingers onto the paper....there didnt seem to be any preservation of
the papers in evidence like behind a glass -
Wonder if that document is available on the NET - didnt try...will
look into it...

Hi to all,
What I do is I have data I find that doesn't fit into the
family but is near the right year, Town,County etc I put it into a
Extra File one for each Major family (Chase) (Reed)(Boyd)(Pickett)
then have small folders for Branches of the Major Family Line...
The reason I did this is years ago when I first started I
started on My Mother and Father-in-Law's family Brothers and sisters
I found other info but the were not on my list so I didn't copy it down
I hav to go back when I later started on the next Gen....
I also Have one File of one name John Reed He is my Brick wall
I have about 25 or 30 listing (Off the net) of John Reed but it isn't
the one I am looking (I don't think) but I don't want to get rid of them
because I may be able to connect if I do I wwill have the info

Hi Derek:
Good question, I have been wondering the same thing. Right now I have just been
entering ones that I know for sure will connect, but am afraid I may have a vital
piece of information that I forget about because I don't enter it.

Hello all,
I have culled a list of marriages from public archives. They introduce a lot
of Chases I didn't have before.... However, there's no other information ,
just the fact they married. Searching the documents might or might not turn up
some witnesses, and perhaps a parent or 2......
I have been trying to keep my database "pristine" , meaning everyone in it has
been checked, and connected. Nothing disconcerts me more than having a file
full of "unconnected"......but now, I am wondering, DO YOU enter Marriages
like this ( or indeed any B<M<D info) without having a connection to a line at
hand ???? Do I dump raw data into the program, in the hopes of finding
connections later ?
It's not pretty....but is it the way it was meant to work ???

In the wee small hours of the morning, I made a mistake in my orginal
message about my CHASE line. In the first message, I referred to a Levi
CHASE b. 1787. His name should have been IRA CHASE vice Levi Chase. I
confused his name with Levi Rutherford Smith, father of Ira CHASE's
daughter-in-law. For simplicity, my message is reiterated below using
the correct name.

His wife Margaret J. d. 4/11/1922. The other name I have is Fred A.

Hi,
I wrote once about 2 months ago seeking info on my G. Grandfather and
his parents. I was able to find out who his parents were and I was
wondering if any of you had any info on my line of Chases, which I have
just traced back to about 1860's.
My Grandparents: Amy E. Lovejoy-Chase m. (2nd husband) Horace Chase
G. Grandparents: George Henry Chase m. Adeline Willey
GG. Grandparents; George Francis Chase m. Harriet Wright.
Have any of you run across these names?. I know that George Henry was
born on Dec. 3, 1880. He was employed at Salem Shoe Mfg. Co in Milton,
NH. I am seeking info on his parents, whom I don't know much about. I
am guessing they were born around the 1860's.
Thanks for any help.

Hi again. I can't remember if I have already asked this question over
these sites but would like to know if there are
any people still living at Moore's Mills? Have probably put this
incorrectly. Let's see. How do I word this? Are
Moore's Mills still an active and producing mills at this time? And if
they are, does anyone live on the property as they
did when my ancestors built the place? Are there any families living in
the very near vicinity of the mills? If there are,
has anybody discovered a cemetery close to the area, ancient or just old,
that might possibly contain the gravesite of
Samuel CHASE, died either at the very close of 1810 or the beginning of
1811? Are there very old tombstones with
almost illegible engraving where dates and names might be traced using
chalk? Does anyone know of any book
written on Moore's Mills and the people who lived there, or early St.
David and its MOORE & CHASE inhabitants, that
might possibly be made available to your neighbors down here in the
colonies? Maybe something that could be
ordered by our public library on inter-library loan? Outside of the
HITCHINGS, MOORE, LIVINGSTONE book by
John Elliott MOORE, I mean. I find it so difficult to believe that a
family lived and died there and no records outside of
the before-mentioned book, are to be found. No obit, no bio, no
tombstones (outside of Elizabeth (MOORE) (CHASE)
BUNTEN), no funeral record. Perhaps they are there but we who live
outside of the area have no access to them.
I feel like I'm playing darts blindfolded down here. Most of the time, I
miss the whole dart board! Thought I'd ask in
case someone new has come on line who lives in the area. My only (small)
consolation is that there are a great
many of us trying to find Samuel, his parents, anything on him. I still
haven't been able to learn where in Maine he
was born. I'm still making family group sheets from the above cited book
and am progressing nicely. But it is a job!
A person's name will be written in one part of the book and later on,
more dates added and still later on, even MORE
information. It is really something putting this in some kind of order.
But, I'm thankful for what we do have. Thanks in
advance. Bobbie
Am a Chase descendant. Would suggest that anyone in the Vancouver,
British Columbia area check out the main library at the University of
British Columbia, lowest level, history department, section - United
States, New England. I'll get the Lib. of Congress letters next time I
am out there. UBC has most of the vital records for Massachusetts
including Newbury/Newburyport. There is also an indexed set of NEGHR
(up to 1st 50 volumes) and more after that but individually indexed.
There is so much more on New England there - suspect some professor had
an interest early on in New England. Anyway, we genealogists reap the
benefits.
