In response to a boycott and criticism from outraged customers, Yahoo
late Wednesday changed rules that had given it eternal ownership of
all Geocities Web sites.
"We're seeing how we can clarify our intentions, given the recent
outcry,"
said Tim Brady, Yahoo vice president of production.
The new terms of service, which took effect 3 p.m. PST Wednesday after
executives spent the morning huddling with lawyers, now stress that
"Yahoo does not own content you submit."
blah, blah - long article.
Protest and outrage from Geocites was so great in short time. But
there are still problems with the Term of Service (ToS).

Hello Chase Family
My mother made a mistake, Adelaides middle name was Lavina. Still
very unusual. I have a little more history on her. Adelaide was my
maternal great-grandmother. b.June 28, 1883 d. June 26, 1939. She
married Charles Lucius Brown September 26, 1905. They had 9 children,
Susie Doris, Hattie Emma(my grandmother), Fred Leon, Arthur Franklin,
William Charles, Mildred Chase(living), Mary Bell(living), Clarence
Leroy(who married Harriet Chase(living), and Charles Lucius, Jr.
Now I am looking for more information on Adelaide's parents. All I
have right now are their names. William Chase, and Adelaide Fisk.
Her siblings were Fred, Arthur, Charles, and Susie. They were
probably from Wells, ME or Rochester, NH area.
Any information would be helpful
Thanks,
Michelle

Dear Leslie,
I took a look around the LDS site for Constance and found a little bit about
her, but no comprehensive background for her. On a hunch, I searched for the
male children, Benjamin and James, and I also checked for the female siblings
you posted. I found bits and pieces for all of them, none of which show all
the children you mention as a group, and no lineage for James. However, I
did find the click-on below, Benjamin's Ancestral File, and it's not a bad
place to start your research because it includes substantial pedigrees for
both Jacob and Constance (a/k/a Constant Sanders). Nothing proved of
course, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, so bless those Submitters for
trying, I say. I think this file is a good jumping off place for you in any
case, and it was fun to explore all the alternatives and combinations; there
is information to be gleaned in a lot of ways about Constance and her kin, I
found out.
Wishing you good luck and great hunting, Sandy Chase

You might check with Ginger Reeder and ask where she left off working on the
William Chase line in I believe Wivenhoe,Essex.....Keith Hume may be someone
you'd like to visit while there ! I believe he still monitors the list.
Perhaps some kind souls will give you their e-mail addresses which I have
lost...

Hi,Derek,
I have some info re William Chase but it is without corroboration.
The supposed birth place of William's son,(also William) as Rogate.
I have searched the Rogate Register and no sign of either him,or as also
alleged,
his parents' marriage. That William's wife was Mary is beyond doubt but the
assertion her surname was Townley is,in my view, false and yet another Red
Herring created by the 19th Century hysteria to prove a link to the
Townley-Lawrence-Chase inheritance.
I am about to delve in to Manorial Records of Dedham in search of Sherman
information.
Benjamin,the elder Willaim's son, married Phillipe/Phillipia Sherman.
I intend to follow that up by looking at the Wivenhoe,Essex Manor Records.
This is where the CHASE family most likely came from.
The problem with this is that most of the Manorial Court Records are in
Latin but fortunately in a set format so with a few phrases and the Names it
is sometimes possible to get information. Fortunately Wills are usually in
Olde English and can be understood.
If you want to know more about research in the pre 1700s the PRO do a
leaflet on the subject which I am attaching to this message.
One thing I can tell you is that when a Manor is sold the Records are
usually sold with the property and evn today some of these records remain in
the care of the owner.

Thanks to all those who sent me information on Jacob Chase and Constance
Saunders. I now have Jacob's complete birthdate (4 Aug 1754) and their
marriage date (21 Dec 1777) and confirmation and a source for the
birthdates of their children. Does anyone have anything on Constance's
parents, her dates of birth or death?

I recently found out my gr.gr.gr. grandfather was Samuel Chase, mar. Susanna (Chase) Chase, natives of Rhode Island. They helped settle Amsterdam, NY in 1814 and had eight children, one of whom is my gr. gr. grandfather, John B. Chase (b. 1801 d. 1881 in Concorde township, PA., mar. Orrill Wheeler 1927, NH) Does anyone out there have info on Samuel and Susanna. There seems to be a lot of Chase history in RI, and New England in general, considering the messages posted to the BB. There's got to be a connection to some of you. John B. lines remained in Concorde twnshp, PA to present time. I would greatly appreciate any info. Thanks in advance.
