Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
This is from another list, I have not verified the information.

the best
way to get sterling is via Ruesch International, who have offices in
most of the large American cities, I gather. I am told they only charge
$3 to issue a sterling check, which is some bargain - if you sent
dollars here,[England] it would cost the equivalent of an extra five gbp to
exchange them.
ALL,
I have included the first page in the "Archives" section. This as you may
expect covers the UK. It is by no means complete but the researcher should
be able to find out a large percentage of what he ir looking for here.
The Guildhall Library Records with its copies of over 100 London Parish
Registers and Lloyd's Lists of British Captains and Mates from mid 1800s s
worth a look. These lists are not on-line but they are not averse to
answering some queries by email as long as you do not ask for too much.
Copies of Boyd's Marriages of England and Wales are here.
I am sure you will find the other sites interesting as well,

You are quite right,Rick,
The "name change" syndrome wa one of the first things I learnt at Genealogy
course.
My own name should be HULME but it changed when my ancestor went to America
and joined a Loyalist unit with many Scots. HUME and HULME are pronounced
the same with the "L" silent,

Hi all,
The Chase and Chace bit was sometimes made worse by the clerks. One of my
many great grandmothers Susan Adley Chase moved off Cape in the 1840's to Fall
River. When she got married they spell it Chace because of the large number
of Chaces (very distant relatives of course) in the area. At least when the
children came she corrected the maiden spelling so I did not find it difficult
to trace back.
The problem is when you are new at this , you do not expect using computers ,
all the spelling changes that happen.

In my recent email re updating of site Database I inadvertently referred to
Holder Chase. This should have been Holder CHACE. As with many of this
variation on Chase he is descended from Benjamin Chase.
"Ginger" Reeder's book on the Chase/Chace family explains how this came about,

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with another portion of my
family. I am related to Levi Solomon Chase and have found the rest of the
family on this branch. My question is if anyone has ever read or heard
about Roswell Chase. The information that I have is that he was born 1845
in NY? died 1901 in NY. He married Helen Roff b. 5/19/1845 died 3/30/1922
in Steuben Co., NY. Their daughter Carrie Chase married Charles Withey.
Carrie Chase was born 3/10/1875 died 10/29/1963 in Bath, NY. Her husband,
Charles Withey was born 10/3/1865 and died 10/27/1942 in Cameron Mills, NY
near Bath, NY. Charles Withey's mother was Angeline Stratton daughter of
Perry B Stratton and Mary Ann Clark. Does anyone have any information on
this branch of the Chase family. Thanks in advance for any help you can
give me on these individuals.

I'm looking for anything about Fanny Chase, from Lynn, MA, according to her
daughter's death certificate. She was married to Frank Wooster , born
10/9/1875, died June 1965. They resided in the Bristol, CT area. I have a
record of his death claiming his last spouse was Fanny, but I find no record
of her death. Their daughter Ethel died 2/28/1940, age 39. That would put
Fanny's birth date somewhere around 1880.
Thanks in advance.

I see so much about CHASE ancestors on this list, but never anything
about CHACE. My grandmother was WINNIFRED BERTHA CHACE born January 27, 1887
She was born in Boston but lived in Rhode Island. Her parents were GEORGE A
CHACE and LUCINDA ? George Chace was born in Valley Falls RI, now called
Central Falls, I believe.
Does anyone know anything about them, or any other CHACE's living in
Rhode Island?

Becky, I have Benjamin CHASE b 28 Apr 1639 of Yarmouth, Barstable,
Massechusetts died 27 Feb 1686 in Yarmouth. Married Phillipia or Phillippe
SHERMAN in 1673, she was born 1 Oct 1652 in Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island.
I also have another Benjamin that is a nephew to this Benjamin; he was born
1654 in Yarmouth to William CHASE & Elizabeth HOLDER, died July 1731 in
Portsmouth, married 21 Sep 1696 to Amie (Amey) (Annie) BORDEN. A third
Benjamin that I have in my database is a son of Benjamin & Phillipa; he also
has a July 1731 death date in Portsmouth and was married twice, first to Mercy
SIMMONS in 1703 then to Mary ANGELL This data is from Ancestral File.

ALL,
I have now compiled a page giving details of Public Archives,in the UK,
for those seeking CHASE ancestry.
I would like to get as many USA/Canadian Public,(or those available to the
public), as
possible.
Also if there are those among you from other countries then I would like
details of any Archives there as well.
While I appreciate that Cyndi's List would cover a lot of this I
nevertheless would like to get just the Archives accessible from our Chase site.
Would any of you that can please let me have details of any you have
visited together witha few lines as to what may be found there.
As there are now CHASE descendants living in every state in the USA,(and I
suspect the same applies to Canada's provinces), details of there archives
would be appreciated.

Some names that may be of interest to someone on your list that were found
in the book I have on Waterbury and The Naugatuck Valley, CT...
Isidore Chase - also spelled Isadore Chase on some pages - one of the first
officers of the Waterbury Merchant's Association, formed May 20, 1897 who
is listed as a charter member for "millinery"
Frederick S. Chase - lived on Grove St, Waterbury, CT ; also on the Board
of Directors for the Boys Club, one of the directors of the Waterbury
Business Men's Association in 1913.
Irving Hall Chase - Senator to State Legislature 1893 - 1917 from
Waterbury, CT -
also listed as a director of the Smith & Griggs Manufacturing Co in 1917.
His wife's brother was Captain Frank W. Kellogg. I guess that makes her
maiden name Kellogg if that helps anyone find a connection.
H.S. Chase - President of Waterbury National Bank in 1916 & many other
mentions in the book; also one of the directors of the Smith & Griggs
Manufacturing Company in 1917. (Henry S. Chase, son of Augustus S. Chase)
Irving S. Chase - Director of Waterbury National Bank in 1916 and many
other mentions in the book
Augustus S. Chase - became President of the first newspaper, the Waterbury
American in or around 1893. H.S. Chase was also a stockholder and also
treasurer and manager in 1893.; director of Waterbury Savings Bank in 1892.
Also owned the A.S. Chase Co. , also listed as President of The Smith &
Griggs Manufacturing Company in 1894. Mentions A.S. Chase died in Paris on
June 7, 1896 and was succeeded in the office by his son, Henry S. Chase.
Helen E. Chase - 1911 - "In this year Miss Helen E. Chase gave the old
Waterbury hospital buildings and grounds as an addition to Chase Park, in
memory of her mother, Martha Starkweather Chase." I think this Park was
established in 1905 by
Mrs. A.(Augustus) S. Chase as a memorial to her husband and to be used as a
park...
Hope this helps someone...if there is a connection for any of you, please
email me and I'll add the other information I find on these names. They are
mentioned many times in connection with several industries and endeavors.

ALL,
I have managed to get a simple Chase site Search facility operational.
This is a VERY simple search tool and only lists the pages the phrases or
word is on and does not highlight where the search string is on the page.
However I believe it is a step in the right direction.
One small problem, the script is leaving a message about not signing guest
books etc. and as I got this Script free from Matt's Scripts Archives and am
not an expert in Perl programming I have asked Matt's Scripts to help me
out. We do not use a guest book as we have the Researcher page,

If any of you think you might have a Waterbury Connecticut connection,
please let me know because I have a book called History of Waterbury and
the Naugatuck Valley and it does list people with the name of Chase. I
could do lookups if you'd like. I also do some transcribing of cemeteries
in the surrounding area and some lookups in local cemeteries.

9/9 note shows Henry Chase as son of Isaac and Hanna Berry Chase. I am
interested in knowing where this reference was obtained. This may be a
different generation from those which I have info. Per the Chase Family
Chronicles, Isaac, son of John, married MARY Berry 5/23/1705. They had 9
children: Hezekiah, Obadiah, Thankful, Isaac, Lot, Hannah, Mary, Nathaniel and
a second Mary. Isaac was remarried in 1727 to Charity O'Kelly and had six more
children: David, Barnabas, Temperance, Charity, Mehitable and Desire. Isaac
(2) b. 1714 was married to Thankful Maker. They had 14 children: Isaac b 1750
who married Mary Holmes, Lot, Berry, Thankful, John, Rueben, Ann Ruth,
Reliance, Josiah, Joel, Solomon, Sarah, Elizabeth, and Obadiah (my ancestor).
Isaac (2) remarried and fathered Thomas and Judah in Saratoga. I can't find
