Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Junelle, from what I have seen and what has been discussed on this list,
there appear to be several coats of arms attributed to Chases (at least
two) and it is not clear which Chases they may have been awarded to or by
whom.
That said, I would be happy to receive a file with your scan. I can
compare them to Ginger Reeder's book.

A friend sent me a Chase scroll with all kinds of ancestory information,
resources, and a coat of arms. I scanned it but I couldn't get the entire
scroll scanned as it was too large. But, some of the info as well as the
coat of arms is on it. Would anyone be interested in taking a look at it?
And could they also tell me if this is the same coat of arms that we have
been searching for?

Good morning cousins,
I found the following that you may want to add to your Obadiah Chase/Susannah
Knapp file.
Lydia Chase b. 1769; md. Judah C. BAKER b. 1762 d. 1851; lived Tompkins Co.,
NY; eight children. I located the names of six: Obadiah C. Baker; Nehemiah
Baker; Alvin Baker; Tillah (or Zillah) Baker md. Charles G. Mark of Huntsburg,
Ohio; Susannah Baker md. Moses Lovell; Adah Baker md. first, James R. Sage and
second, Judson Lamson, of Knox Co., Ohio. Does anyone know the names of the
other two children?
Also, does anyone have the names of Judah Baker's parents? I found two
brothers:
James Baker b. 20 Jan. 1760 Frederickstown, Dutchess Co., NY d. 5 Dec. 1841
Tompkins County, NY; married first Phoebe Brown b. 1762 d. 1797; married
second Margaret Crawford.
Samuel D. Baker b. 25 July 1764 Frederickstown, Dutchess Co., NY d. 28 Mar.
1852 in Cameron, Steubin Co., NY; md. 1784 Est(h)er Field Gustin b. 18 Oct.
1783 d. 18 Oct. 1849.
Also a cousin: Joshua Baker b. 26 Nov. 1760 Frederickstown, NY d. 27 July
1856 Broome County, NY; md. Abigail _______ b. 1766 d. 15 July 1842.
Judah, James, Samuel and Joshua Baker all served in Revolutionary War.
Joan Gerrits
I believe I have the book, it was by Arthur H. Noble though in 1967. I bought it
from Heraldry Today, 10 Beauchamp Place, London S.W.3
Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Does anyone have any information on a CHASE genealogy book that was published
in the UK 30 or so years ago titled "The Chase Family" -- or something like
that -- by an Arthur Hailey or Hailsham (or something like that). Supposedly
covered the Chesham Chases and decendants. Someone who at one point had had
a copy referred me to it, but their recollection of it is a bit dimmed by the
passage of time...

Are there any descendants of George W. PRIOR b. 19 Mar 1844 in West Seneca,
NY m. Elizabeth CHASE?
I'm beginning to feel like the sole survivor of this family. Have lots of
PRIOR information to share but very little on CHASE side. Marilyn Jewett

My recent note about contributions to the Coat of Arms search stirred a few
questions from Chase-folk who missed the original discussions. Here are
some answers I cut and pasted from Keith Hume's earlier postings. Whatever
we learn we hope will be of use at the Chase website for everyone. We
can't be sure because we have to pay for the search even if it yields
nothing useful. Keith is bearing the larger share of the cost. Five of us
have put in $20 and I expect another $20 will be coming. We could use
another $40 from stateside Chases. If you are interested in helping out,
don't send money, send an e-mail to me first. I will confirm with my
address and ID. We don't want to raise more than we need.
Here are some quotes from Keith's recent e-mails before he left on a few
weeks travel:
I have received a reply to my query re CHASE Armorial Bearings from The
College of Arms. A copy of this letter will be found on the CHASE site on
the "Meanings" page.
It takes a little while to load (114k size).
I should make it ABSOLUTELY clear that when making this enquiry I did NOT
just specify Dedham & Wivenhoe. These places were mentioned as being where
CHASE family lived as was CHESHAM,CORNWALL and a possible WELSH connection.
On the basis that it was decided to go ahead I am assured that the search
will cover ALL the records of the last 600 years.
I should also make it clear that the cost applies for the search so that
should there be nothing then the charge is still made.
Unbelievably there is no Index kept on all the Arms granted. I am informed
that these run into thousands. All books are checked not just those for one
area. I found this incromprehensible but I was informed that this was to
ensure that no one else could get meaningful records.
You will see that they are asking for any information re the families etc
and if application or granting of Arms was made.
The information we would get would be a description of the
genealogy, who, and where and when but not actual details. The reason is that
there may be more than one for the same individual and it could be lengthy.
A seperate charge would be made. Estimated cost would depend on how
lengthy
the information was.
For my own part I believe this would be money well spent providing the cost
does not fall on one individual. In particular it would appear that the
CHESHAM Chase family appear to be the most likely to have been granted
Arms.
I am willing to put up the first 20 pounds (36 dollars) of the total of
approx 196 dollars required.

getting through. Let me know if you still need a list owner. I maintain a

I'm searching for a Leonard Chase who was born in Derry, NH (per his
marriage record). He married Mary Jane Sargent on 29 Oct 1829 in Amesbury,
MA. He is buried in Amesbury, at the Second Congregational Church, West
Parish, Amesbury (now Merrimac).
I haven't been able to locate much information about Derry, NH and any
Chase's there in the early 1800's. the Aquila Chas book has a Leonard
Chase, son of Theophilus Chase and Anna Farrington b. 1809 in Amesbury.
But there is also a record that he died young, so I have no other leads to
Aquila.
Does anyone have any information on Derry, NH Chases?

Hi KKO,
I am new to this list and noticed the subject of Milton Chase. I have a

Thanks,

Hello Chase-folk:
This is just a progress report on raising the funds for the Coat of Arms
search. So far I have three of the stateside pledges for a total of $60.
We need to get the money from our side of the Atlantic before Keith Hume
returns to his computer on his side of the ocean. Let me know if you want
