>From my research, it does not show William and Aquilla to be of the same
family. Aquilla wrote a will and mentioned his two sons, Aquilla and
Thomas, both of whom came to the New World. However, there is no mention of
a son named William. Since sometimes, when a child went to the New World,
they were dropped from wills, etc., it would seem that this is not the case
in this instance. So, it is my (strictly a persdonal) judgement that
William does not belong in that family. Jeanne

Hi All,
Because of the marriages of Priscilla (Aquila), and Esther (Aquila,
Aquila) Chase to Abel (Nathaniel) and Daniel (Daniel, Nathaniel)
Merrill, respectively, I thought I might find some of my Merrill
Newsletter subscribers on this list.
If so, could you please send me your current e-mail addresses? My mail
program crashed a while back, and I've lost all of them. I'm about to
publish the first web issue of The Merrill Newsletter - wouldn't want
you to miss out.
Thanks for your time & space,

Good morning all,
Does anyone have the documented children of Aquila CHASE 1580-1670 and
Martha Jelliman 1588-1643? Your response is appreciated.

Deb,
I noted the Bishop's line...Mine, I believe, is William, William,
Abraham, Phineas mar Desire WING, Nathan, Isabel mar Mial PIERCE,...
I recall seeing a great deal of electronic speculation about Aquilla and
William.
I don't recall seeing anything that "settled" the question.
The beginning of Some of the Descendants of William CHASE of Roxbury and
Yarmouth,
MA, John Carroll CHASE and George Walter CHAMBERLAIN, NEHGR, V. 87, Jan
1933, Pg.
46+ doesn't seem to address who the first William's parents or siblings
were and
says that his wife was Mary _________ (doesn't say that it was Mary
TOWNLEY).
Jack Davidson
Was speaking with one of the Bishops at the LDS Center the other night.
His line connects with mine via the Giffords/Chase/Wing lines. He, however
had Aquilla as being the father of William Chase. I told him I thought
that might be incorrect. Was I wrong? I need to get info to him next
week. He has: Aquilla>William>William>Abraham>......
Any info. is appreciated. Wasn't William the son of Rowland (we think???).

Hi Derek,
Are you by chance referring to the article written by JCC that appeared
in
The Chase Chronicle, January-April, 1930 issue, page 7, entitled "English-
American Chases"? It pretty well puts to rest for then the possibility that
the American Aquila and the Chesham Aquila & son are related as father-son,
etc.
It is a delightful, concise and witty article.

Hello,ALL,
I am still waiting for Surname web to set up the scripts(programmes) for
running the Database section of the Project.
1) a)Using the Surname template for setting up a Surname Center I have set
up the suggested layout for the site,I emphasise, SUGGESTED.
It is at:-
www.surnameweb.org/centers/c/chase/index.html
Please have a look and also at the links which contain comments from both
Surnameweb and myself that you should all be aware of.
b) When it is set up I hope you will all add your names to the researcher page.
DO NOT send anything yet.
2) a) For all those intending to contribute gedcoms and family tres.
I would appreciate it if all databases with more than 15 names be
submitted as gedcom files. All others can be submitted as plain text.
b) INITIALLY it is intended that any gedcom file with more than 100 names
will have its own database within the Database section. This will allow me
to work on the task of merging them while the information is available
generally.
The objective is to create a CHASE database of people with CHASE blood
and their spouses and parents of their spouses.
If we were to include the complete families of spouses the database
would be enormous and not what I believe we set out to do.
c) To enable enquirers who visit the site to contact those with details of
spouses families I have a utility which allows the addition of a Note
to every individual in a gedcom file.
c) When sending gedcom files, either by, email,(prefered), or on a floppy disk
Please ensure the file is NOT named Chase.ged Using any other name or
initials would ensure that there are not 2 files with the same name.
d) Please state what message you would like added to each page i.e name
and email address or WWW site or anyother BRIEF message of your choice.
Remember once the Database is set up you will be able to add email
addresses and links direct to your own WWW page.( See my email of
yesterday ). Should you wish to add the Note to your gedcom file
yourself I can send a copy of the Sharewb utility that does this.
I recommend,STRONGLY,that all submitting gedcoms add or have me add
such a note.
Thanks,
Keith hume

Hello Bill, and everyone,
I am wondering, if there wasn't some revision about the Chesham Aquila in
later research by John Carroll Chase, that indicated the Chesham Aquila was
not related to the Newbury Aquilla ???? I remember receiving something (which
typically I cannot now find) that was written by JCC disproving that linkage.
The "original" Aquila and Thomas were brothers, from Cornwall (?) and were
fishermen.(he asserted)......I believe THomas was in the records as being sort
of indentured for "foure" years service at sea in the town where he
settled....
Anway...I have seen this genealogy (in it's earlier years) quite a bit, LDS
files,GEDcom files and a typewritten one I found in Maine at a historical
society, and I just wondered if anyone else here had seen any correction to
the line like that.

All,
I have now arranged server space with surnameweb.org
You will have seen my earlier messages on this and I hope that those of you
that are interested in a "Common" CHASE database have visited
www.surnameweb.org and visited the pages I suggested.
Apart from offering space surnameweb are setting up cgi scripts,(these
allow the server to process data) to allow not only a saving in server space
but many other features descriptions of which can be found at the
surnameweb.org site.
The best way to see what these features are is to visit the site and follow
the links to Surname resource centers. Look at the Partridge Site at:-
http://www.surnameweb.org/centers/p/partridge
This is the page Dennis Partridge has compiled for his own surname group.
If you search his database you will see he has quite a few CHASE family
including the "original" William. Every page on an individual in the dbase
has the facility to ADD your own link. In otherwords you can leave an email
or hyperlinked www site address so that anyone looking at William's data can see
who has an interest/other info. I have left both my email and www address on
William's CHASE's page.
For those of you who are prepared to offer data in the, form of gedcoms, to
this project I will be sending another message to let you know details,

I have a Benjamin CHASE that died of debility on February 11, 1815 from the
4th Regiment of Infantry, NH. He is buried in the War of 1812 Cem.,
Cheektowaga, Eriie Co., NY. I would like to know which Benjamin Chase he is
and who his father was. Thanks, Maxine
Hi Carol,
My question is Joshua Wixon m. Elizabeth Chase 18 Dec. 1731. I have a lot of
Wixons in my ancestory. Who is this Joshua the son of?
If you ancestory has the other stated Wixon - marriage of Reuben Wixon and
Dorcas Chase, 3 Jan 1745/46 in Harwich, MA, we are cousins. These are my
grandparents too.
Richard rcarruda(a)aol.com
I trace my Chase line from Britannia Chase back through Rufus, Issac, Issac,
Jacob, William, William. According to the information I have, Britannia was
born 20 May 1780, probably in Guilford, Windham County, VT. She married a
David Fisher, Jr. from Guilford in 1798. It is believed she died in IN. She
is my gggg grandmother.
Can someone tell me whether Mary Townley was William Sr's wife? I've seen a
few descendancy charts that show her, but they've been on FTM's World Family
Tree and I'm not sure they're totally reliable. Also, does anyone have the
name of William Jr's wife (his first wife, Jacob's mother)?
Has any researcher been able to establish where in England William Sr. came
from?
I'd also (I'm a greedy little devil) appreciate hearing from anyone who has
information on: Jacob's wife, Mary Hall; Issac Sr's wife, Mary Munroe; Issac
Jr's wife, Mary Estabrook; or Rufus's wife, Sarah Kingsley. At least, I
believe those are the names of their respective spouses!
I'd be more than happy to share what I have. Having said that, I must also
admit that what I have has been compiled from two sources, a master's thesis
by a Fisher descendent and a Fisher family history. I have not verified any
sources thus far.
This summer I plan to start doing some cemetery searches. I figure as long as
I'm in Rhode Island (I'm a transplanted Texan), I might as well take advantage
of the opportunity. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which cemeteries
might be worth exploring for Chases in my line? Has anyone located any Chase
gravesites in Vermont?
Suzette Davidson-Baccus
I show William Chase and Hannah Sherman had a son Nathanial about 1679 in
Yarmouth, Mass. He married Abigail Sherman. Does anyone have further
information on Nathanial? His siblings, children, life events?
