Juno died in an exquisitely messy way last night (Sunday night)
Almost took down one of RootsWeb's two mail servers along the way,
and they did briefly crash our mail hub machine twice.
Karen and I had great fun.
If the idiots had brain one, they should have dropped their net
connection as soon as they realized they'd effectively deleted each
and every one of their subscribers. Then mail would have quietly
queued on remote machines all over The Net. (We could have held
about 3 GB of mail for Juno in RootsWeb's mail queue areas if they
had simply stopped accepting mail.)
Instead, they stayed on The Net and bounced every piece of mail they
received as "user unknown". *sigh* -B

Just to let everybody know, my e-mail address is now BillToler(a)aol.com
until further notice. And I still have lots of information on the
descendants of William Chase of Roxbury, MA to share, though I have quite a
backlog of requests. I did recently find over 400 ancestors for one cousin
and will get to the rest as soon as I can. Thanks.

Does anyone have the genealogy of Samuel Chase, signer of the Declaration of
Independence? Family tradition says we're related, but I can't find anything
on him. We do descend from William Chase who came over with Gov. Winthrop.
I have a Mary CHASE b abt 15 May 1637 in possibly Roxbury, Mass, and
died abt 28 Oct 1652 in Yarmouth or Barnstable, Mass.
Is she the dau of William and Mary (TOWNLEY) CHASE or do I have her
added to the incorrect set of parents? In looking at her again, I don't
believe she belongs with those parents, but I'm not sure where she does
belong. Could someone please help me?
I thank you in advance.

Good evening,
I am sorry for any duplicates.
What a job! <VBG> It is finally done. We have just finished
compiling the marriages of Windham County, Connecticut. It can be viewed by
clicking on the home page url in our sig.. Once the home page is up click on
vital records and you will find it in the marriages section. Again, I have
done these in alpha order per the grooms surname. So make sure you look at
the brides maiden name as well to ensure you don't miss that ancestor. I am
sorry for any duplicates.
We welcome all feed back on this site. Have fun and enjoy the fruits of our
labor.
Thank you,

BATTLE HYMN OF THE CHASES
(Sung to "Battle Hymn of the Republic)
Our ancient sires in England raised their standards to the sky;
For country and posterity their aims were ever high;
They always did their duty; unafraid to do or die;
The clan goes marching on!
Chorus: Glory to our grand old family
Virile, worthy, brave and loyal!
"Forward" ever all ye Chases!
The clan goes marching on.
Aquilla, William, Luke and Tom were fathers of our clan;
Aquilla Chase was virile, William was a sturdy man;
Posterity of Chases facing danger, never ran;
The clan goes marching on.
Samuel was a signer of a famous document;
In Congress and in courts of justice many years he spent;
He was an ardent patriot and what he said he meant;
The clan goes marching on.
Ann Chase was a heroine with weapon in her hand;
The enemy retreated when she gave her stern command;
She saved the flag, the men, the treasure of her native land;
The clan goes marching on.
Irah was a preacher; Dudley servant of his state;
Salmon is among the men we know as good and great;
Though Wells was in danger, never did he hesitate;
The clan goes marching on.
Josiah and brave Joshua were fighters, we are told;
Carlton was a preacher who brought sinners to the fold;
Among the world's great families our family is pure gold;
The clan goes marching on.
The Clan of Chase is mighty - many thousand brave and strong;
In seventy-six a hundred Chases fought to right a wrong;
Many towns now bear our name. Sure, let us sing that song -
The clan goes marching on.
The sons of Chase have courage any task or foe to face;
Our daughters all are lovely with their beauty, charm and grace;
The leaven of our family is a blessing to the race;
The clan goes marching on.

Family pride is a commendable trait and should be cultivated. All Chases

The name "Chase" was given to those people who resided in that part of the

The Chase Coat of Arms
A Coat of Arms is an emblem or a device which is displayed by titled
persons, persons of royal blood, and their descendants. Coats of Arms were
originally used for purposes of identification and recognition on the field
of battle as well as in civil life.
It is claimed by some writers that Coats of Arms, in a crude form, were
used by Noah's sons after the flood. There are records of other Coats of
Arms, in one crude form or another, at different periods of ancient
history. Heraldry, however, as we know it today, did not become of much
importance until soon after the invasion of England by William the
Conqueror, A.D. 1066. Heraldry became of general interest at about the
time of the Crusades.
The Chase Coat of Arms is Arms of the Chases of Berkshire, England .
Coats of Arms very similar to it are used by the Chases of Much Hadham,
Herts. And by many other families. Numerous branches of the Chase family
use Coats of Arms resembling it.
The following is the most widely used of all Chase Coats of Arms. It is
described in Burke's General Armory, Burke's Landed Gentry, Burke's Peerage
and Baronetage and other reliable works on heraldry, in some cases
accompanied by illustrations. Crozier records it for Thomas and Aquilla
Chase who settled in Massachusetts in 1637. It has been used for
generations by their descendants and by many other American branches of the
Chase family.

I have a CHASE puzzle that I need help with -
David CHASE married Susannah ___. Their daughter, Susannah CHASE was b
22 Apr 1776 in Rehoboth, Mass, and died 11 Dec 1851 in Edmeston, NY.
She married 16 Feb 1800 in Killingly, CT to Charles BURLINGHAM, the son
of Benjamin and Sarah (NICHOLS) BURLINGHAM.
Is this David CHASE the same David that was the son of Oliver and
Priscilla (ROUNDS) CHASE?
