my name is jeff charpentier, and i was raised in texas. as a kid i hated my name, I hated my name ijust wanted to be a Smith or Jones. I didn't even know there was another Charpentier on the face of the earth. I always had to spell it out and was teased. Not until I was about 25 did i realize there were others,Ifelt better. That was after i saw a phone book from LA. Now at 51 with 5 kids 4 boys i realize what a beautiful and historic name it is and am very proud of it. Glad my kids carry that name. glad my family never changed it. my have something to do with the fact they came to the U.S. through Galveston TX. don't know for sure. for something to be such a burdon as a child, has turned to something beautiful as an adult. YOU can always change it back, because that is what it was. have a great day
