Thank you!
I have had no further information, and am pursuing this just because my gut says it is the way to go. I am trying to place my Mary Ann Walker b abt 1830,- of course records were burned. I feel that she is a daughter of Edward, who had a twin brother, Christopher- born 1796. I believe that they came to Middlesex County, and the London, Ontario area.

Thanks but sorry. My Charlton was William Charlton, son of Jeremiah
Charlton, Wakefield, Alverthorpe.

Hi,
I just saw your Mary CHARLTON posting. I have an Edward Charlton born
1770 in West Allendale, Nothumberland that moved to the Walton - Lanercost
area as a young man and married Catherine Calvert in 1801 in Lanercost.
They had 11 children born in the area before they immigrated to Canada in
1824. I believe he would have been a Wesleyan Methodist before arriving in
Toronto before moving to York County in Ontario.
So far I have been unable to find anything further back before his marriage.

Thank you for your message. However, my Charltons are from Alverthorpe,
Yorkshire, England. Doubt there is a connection but wish there was.

Hello,
I might have some useful infrmation - have you got any further since you
posted? A Mary Charlton married a John Walker 15th July 1795 in Walton,
Cumberland which is sort of next door to Lannercost. She'd (I think it must
be her anyway) already had a son out of wedlock at Thorneymoor, Walton
called John (that may be a hint)christened 9.12.1792. Not sure what happened
to him. It wasn't at all unusual with them to be a bit slow marrying. I
noticed Mary as the only other Charltons mentioned in the parish were from
my family. I'm fairly sure she'll be related to them somehow but I haven't
found the link yet. Also, I think it's Ancestry that now has info on
landowners and a John Walker seems to have owned some of the land my family
farmed in Walton. Also a female Walker owned some - mother, sister?. Haven't
had time to look properly. There's some food for thought anyway. If you've
found any more about her please get in touch and tell me. Best Wishes, Janet
