Hello, My name is John Charlton, My Charlton family History from 1800 to present has been based in Southern Ontario, and Michigan . My earliest ancestors here were a Patrick Charlton B.1799 Ireland and Thomas Charlton B 1824 County Roscommon, Ireland.
I was recently talking to a senior Aunt of mine and she related that she believes we may be related to the Charlton family in Savana Georgia. But she did not elaborate as to how.
The only thing I can figure out is that, it could be a relation of Patrick or Thomas who travelled further South and ended up settling in your area, I have no proof or evidence of this. Also they could have arrived in your area directly from Ireland.
Perhaps you could research your tree and check for possible relations, our Charltons were Roman Catholics, who arrived In Canada (about 1846) from Ireland and later migrated to Michigan. They could have arrived in Canada from a New York Port or like, and then on to Canada.
I have a Public "Charlton Tree" posted on ancestry, with a ton of photos, if you would like to review same.
Thanks for your time, if you would like to correspond, please do , jc3910(a)aol.com
John

I have a Cordelia Charlton who married John Russell Stanford circa 1830 in Clarkesville, Habersham Co, GA. She was from either Wilkes Co. or Savannah. Her father was John Kennan Montford Charlton, of Wilkes
County. Names sound familiar to you?

I just found the name Silas Charlton. I believe I am the great great granddaughter of Joseph. The family came to Sauvie Island in Oregon after leaving Missouri. I too would like to know more.

I am looking for Mary Charlton, who in 1796 was married to John Walker, and living near Lanercost/ Hodall (Howdale?), Cumberland. They had at least two children, Edward and Christopher, probably twins, chr Oct 13, 1796.
Any info welcome!
