Message Board Post:
Julie,
I am also searching for information on this family. I recently found out that Sarah Morris who md James C. Charlton in Lawrence Co. AL is the sister of my gg-grandfather Thomas "Tom" Calvin Morris. They were the children of Martin Morris & Octavia Edmondson. I have more information if you are interested. I haven't been able to find out much about James C. Charlton before his marriage to Sarah.
I'm a thread puller--families often travelled together & inter-married--James was a carpenter--guess what? So was Thomas, and his other brothers! So was he a relation to the Morris', or did he meet Sarah through his trade? I only found out about Sarah, who I had NO CLUE ABOUT before--never heard the Charlton name ever mentioned--by tracing her brother John Covington Morris--unusual name--LOTS of drama with this one--and that's how I found the Charlton connection.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Melanie Morris Sussner
