I have been trying unsuccessfully to search for my uncle John Charlton. All I know is that he was born in 1936/1937, son of Sydney Charlton Born 22 June 1906 and Mary Hannah Charlton (formerly Lock), Brother of Ronald Anthony Charlton Born 14 February 1932. Both brothers births were registered in Lanchester. I have my dads address at birth as 23 Beechville Blackhouse, Edmondsley Road, Durham and I am not even sure if my uncle John was born there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Although we are here in Sheffield, I am trying to trace part of my tree which is based up in Middlesborough with a earlier link to Newcastle. I only know a few details of my grandfather. These are:
His name is George Charlton, he was born around 1926-1930 he lived at Calfort Street (this house is thought to have been in the family for some time). Around 1956 he lived with my nan (Winifred Hagan). Together they had my dad Keith. George also had a daughter who was 11/12 years old at this time. Beleive he also had a sister called "Bella".
During the 1950's George worked on the buses most likely as a driver but not 100% certain. I also think that he may have married during the 60's
Any help either directly to these people or any help in researching to enable me to find these relatives would be much appreciated.

OK, well I think you could probably only really give me info, for to know what I know all you have to do is search for either Abraham Charlton or Christopher Charlton in family trees. There are quite a few entries in member trees and One-world tree.

I am so excited, I have spent 10 years looking for the father of Abraham, I do not have his date of birth but know he was in the french & Indian Wars, I suspected Christopher was his father when I found a court document in cumberland county about Christopher Chalton. I would like to correspond by e-mail with you. NCHARL2196(a)aol.com

No problem. Newspaper obits often have errors. I spent a long time looking for the baptism records for an ancestor as her obit said she "was a native of Ebchester" when she came from Edmonbyers and had probably never been to Ebchester in her life!
Cheers,
Patch

I can't really help but I think you will find the place name as Pelton Fell not Petton Fell. It is just west of Chester-le-Street.
I used to live in Pelton.

I'm looking for any trace of the marriage of John and Martha Charlton (or Charleton) in the English counties of Durham, Northumberland or North Yorkshire.
Calculating from dates of death John was born about 1712 and Martha 1716. First real dated evidence I have is when they moved in Whitehall, Parish of Lanchester in 1748. There were three children with them, John (born c 1742), Mary (born c1746) and Elizabeth. John's will has them as his children but Martha may have been a second or third wife of course.
Further children followed:
Martha 1748
Cuthbert 1750 (my direct line)
William (1752) and
Jane (1758)
Anyone else have anything at all on this lot?

There is a Christopher Charlton in my family born 1702 in Virginia and died 1753 in Cumberland, Virginia. I don't know his parents names but I know he had a son Abraham born in 1735 in Littleton, Cumberland, Virginia. I don't know his wife's name either or if there were any other children.

Thomas Charlton's wife, I believe, was Ann Hunt Kennon, widow of John Hall. I am a descendant of her sister, Lucy Kennon m. Hartwell Macon. I believe these two women to be daughters of Henry Isham Kennon whose wife is unknown.
Might you have any information on these ladies?
Also, I am interested in following the descendant's of these sisters to see if their lives intertwined perhaps in later generations.
Thanks for any help.
BTW, I feel fortunate to have happened on your e-mail by chance today. What a nice surprise!
