James Charlton, Sr. was born 1763 in England [evidence as shown in 1870 & 1880 Census (Ohio)]. Can anyone help me excatly where in England this James Charlton came from?
He was married to Mary Passmore before 1808, possibly in Hamilton County, Ohio.

Yes, they misspelled her first name many times in many county documents. Ironically, their son, Edgar Malcolm Lewis was the County Clerk for many years in Marshall County.
Birth listings would be great too.

I have to birth listings for Sarah B Lewis b 15 Nov 1863 to Thomas and Neomia Lewis. He was a boiler and from Benwood.
While you have a different spelling for Neomia I think that you are on the right path. I can send the birth listings as well if it will help!

Thank you for the info! After a couple of trips back to WV I have come close to confirming that Sarah B. Lewis is the same person as Thomas & Naomi Lewis' daughter.
Does the marriage certificate list the bride's parents? Would love to be able to confirm.
Also, Samuel as the second marriage is a surprise. Thanks for the fact. Do you happen to know who the first husband was? And does anyone know yet what happened to Sarah after the death of her husband Samuel?
As for Charlton info, I do have some as I have been tracing the Lewis family line. I also have some photos of the Charlton headstones at Mt. Rose Cemetery in Moundsville during one of my trips.

Hi all, I am getting in here late with the info I have as I just found this thread. I am researching Letitia J McGill who married John R. Charlton as you all know.
I can confirm that Samuel R. Charlton married Sarah B. Lewis on 23 Jun 1904 according to a copy of the marriage license that I have. One interesting fact that was not mentioned before was that Sarah's marriage to Samuel was her second.
If any of you would like to share additional info on the Charlton's I have quite a bit on the McGill's.
Cheers!

Hello
I am looking for any information on John Charlton, his wife Rebecca and their children. All from Hobart, Tasmania between the years 1843 and 1900. Also John's father Thomas Charlton who arrived in Australia as a convict in 1832. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Karen

I missed the original posting but there were several 18th century Edward
Charltons in the Hexham/Chollerton area. The Ponteland Charltons are nororiously
difficult to sort out as there are so many of them with identical names. I
am related to two of these Edwards on my paternal grandmother's side. Her
mother was Hannah Charlton born 20 December 1841, daughter of Edward born 1803/4
in Matfen. She married John Stappard, a farmer like Edward, at Hexham Register
Office on 23 November 186.
