Thomas Charlton's wife, I believe, was Ann Hunt Kennon, widow of John Hall. I am a descendant of her sister, Lucy Kennon m. Hartwell Macon. I believe these two women to be daughters of Henry Isham Kennon whose wife is unknown.
Might you have any information on these ladies?
Also, I am interested in following the descendant's of these sisters to see if their lives intertwined perhaps in later generations.
Thanks for any help.
BTW, I feel fortunate to have happened on your e-mail by chance today. What a nice surprise!
Hello,
I am a researcher of the Huguenot Besley family, and am presently working on the Bayley ancestry of Saint Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton.
Her father was Richard Bayley and her mother was CATHERINE CHARLTON daughter of REV. RICHARD CHARLTON.
Richard Bayley and Catherine Charlton married 9 January 1769 at St. John's Church in Elizabethtown, NJ, for a reason that isn't plain to me. But when I
was doing research in that area I found the following burial.
Elizabeth Charlton, relict of Patrick Charlton d Jan 17,1778--age 76 years. Son John d 1752 age 19 yrs. Dau Elizabeth d 1759 age 24 years, buried in New Jersey.
1892 Wheeler & Halsey -- "Inscriptions on Tombstones and
Monuments in the Burying Grounds of the First Presbyterian Church and St.
Johns Church at Elizabeth, NJ"
PATRICK CHARLTON, husband of this Elizabeth, would have been the contemporary of
REV. RICHARD CHARLTON.
In an article by Henry Hoff in The New York Genealogical & Biographical Record, about the ancestry of Saint Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton,
Mr. Hoff identifies the parents of Rev. Richard Charlton as JOHN CHARLTON and wife CATHERINE, of St. Johnstown, County Longford, Ireland,
but he says nothing about their other issue.
I can find nothing whatever about this Patrick Charlton on-line, or in the CHARLTON-L archives.
Is anyone on this list researching the CHARLTON ancestry of Saint Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton?
Many thanks,
Sharilyn Whitaker
