You have confirmed much of what I have found over the past couple of days.
Thank you for the connection between Samuel and Elias. I will be traveling back to Marshall County, WV next week and will take photos of Samuel and Elias' graves in addition to trying to confirm that Samuel did indeed marry the Sarah Lewis I am related to.
Unfortunately, it sounds like we are nearly stuck in the same place. I have not been able to find a trace of Sarah after Samuel's death nor have I found any indication of children.
Just a thought perhaps Sarah B. Lewis was married before, since she was
about 42 when she married Samuel R. Charlton, and is buried with her
first husband??

Samuel R. Charlton was the son of John Robert Charlton and Letitia J. McGill. John Charlton was originally from Monroe County, Ohio and Letitia McGill was from Marshall County, WV. John had a brother, Absolam, who lived near the McGill family in Marshall County, probably explaining how they met.
Samuel R. Charlton was born September 14, 1865 and died March 25, 1915 ( 49 years old ) from TB according to funeral home records. I had Samuel and Sarah Lewis married June 23, 1904. Help me here please. The marriage records listed Samuel's address as Pittsburg, Pa. I don't know if they had children. Help again, if you can.
The 1870 Census shows Samuel, age 4, living with his parents at 154 Eastern Ave., Cincinnati, OH. Samuel's father worked on the river boats, as did two of his brothers.
In 1880, Samuel and his brother, William, lived with their parents at 158 Eastern Ave. in Cincinnati. Samuel's father operated a grocery. Samuel had another brother, Edward, born after the 1880 Census.
The 1890 special census recorded the family's adress as 162 Eastern Ave. and Samuel was there.
Samuel's father died in 1891 from complications of a lung wound suffered during the Civil War. His burial records lists his adress as 162 Eastern Ave.
Samuel was buried at Mt. Rose Cemetery near Elias Charlton. Elias was his first cousin, son of Ablolam Charlton. Elias was 38 years old and died from a gun shot. Don't know the details.
Sorry, I can't help with Sarah. I don't know what happened to her after Samuel's death.

I am of the Lewis family. A great aunt of mine, Sarah B. Lewis (b. 15 Nov 1863 in Moundsville) married Samuel R. Charlton in Moundsville on 11 Sep 1905.
I am trying to find any information on Sarah and Samuel Charlton as I am not finding anything other than the entry in the county marriage book.
Samuel appears to have been the son of John Robert Charlton and Lettita McGill of Cincinnati, OH according to 1870 census.
He also seems to be buried (dates match) in Mt. Rose Cemetery in Moundsville adjacent to Elias Charlton. I have found no connection between the two except for the close dates that could make them brothers. No other Charltons are buried at Mt. Rose, not even Samuel's wife Sarah. Ironically, Sarah's parents are the only members of her family buried at Mt. Rose.
Any info would be appreciated.
