Michelle: I have written before regarding your Charlton connections. I have recently learned that my William Charlton did not die in a fire in St. Catharineds in 1922,but found his parents: Edward Charlton and Mary Jane [Britton] and throught that information learned that he left his wife and I found he is buried in the St. Thomas West Avenue Cemetery Elgin County, Yarmouth Township. He died in Jan. 8,1961 I don't know if he re-married and had another family or what happened to him for abt. 48 yrs.,but this is definitely my William Charlton,is there any connection to your Charlton lineage with this new information. Take care.......Sandra

Michelle: This is an update on my posting that I was answering to you regarding your grandfather or great gradnfather's brother. I found out that My William Henry Charlton had parents named: Edward Charlton and Mary Jane [Britton] and that the marriage date for William was in Brantford Ontario 1905 in Brantford,Ontario . William was originally from Sligo,Ireland and came to Canada when he was 21 yrs. of age. He and Ethel [Blanchard] his wife separated for many, many, years, and I found out through who his parents really were that William died in 1961,not in 1922,as the family were originally told. What his life was like after the separation, I have no idea, but he is buried in St. Thomas West Avenue Cemetery, Elgin County, Yarmouth Township. So, I don't know if he had any brothers or sisters or remarried or anything about him after his separation. If any of this new information sounds remotely familiar, please contact me, as I would like to know what happened to him. Sandra

Hi Jean: The information that I sent was taken from the newspaper: The Brantford Expositor in Brantford,Ontario,I sent away for the obit and sent it to you exactly as they wrote it in the newspaper, However, they did not mention the wife's name only that he was survivied by his wife and son. So, I clicked unto the Brantford Public Library genealogy page, and just listed the surname Charlton and the dates from 1852 on. It listed every Charlton BMD up until 1961 [that is the final date I entered, but you could go right on to the present day if you chose to do that. I found that the William I thought to be my ggrandfather was listed as married to Jane Taylor March 16,1860. I later found out this was incorrect. The wrong Charlton. I also search the Latter Day Saints search for ancestors site for information, and also Ancestry World Tree Project Ancestry.com I had a volunteer look up the marriage registration for William H, Charlton and that is when I found that my Charlton had pa!
rents : Edward Charlton and Mary Jane Britton, and that William was from Sligo,Ireland, then came to Brantford and married Ethel[Blanchard in 1905] so that confirmed my William. There are genealogists here that will do free lookups for you,you just post that you need a volunteer to look up what area and what information you need. I found a site called CAN-LIST group of volunteers that found a copy of the marriage registration, that confirmed that my Wiliam indeed had different parents than I had thought, and through their efforts, found the correct parents, they also were kind enough to send me a copy of their marriage registraation by snail mail [my printer is not working] Anything else you want to ask, please notify me,and I'll see what I can find for you......Sandra

HI Sandra, it's me again, still looking at this William. Some things don't seem to match what I am looking for, but I just can't discount that exact death date match without looking further at this. I was wondering about the source for the data you mention here, if you have saved it? I am trying to harmonize my own family lore. Thankyou very much for your time.
Jean

Michelle: It has been quite a long time since I wrote to you regarding William H. Charlton. I have information now that I found out through various sources,is incorrect on his lineage. This is what I have learned: William H. Charlton's parents were Edward Charlton and Mary Jane Britton, William was born in Sligo Ireland abt. 1884-88 [there are conflicting birthdates on him] He was born on June 6th. The buriel information I had on him was also wrong. He is buried in: St. Thomas West Avenue Cemetery,Elgin County,Yarmouth township. Reference EL 580,because I did not know who his parents were and only relied on a newspaper clipping that his wife [Ethel Blanchard] had I found that she identified him through police description, not seeing him at all.,I presumed that it was indeed him that died in 1922 Now I don't know whether he re-married or had any brother's or sister's or anything else about him. If any of this information sounds familiar to you, please let me know. Thank you!
in advance.

-need information on obit for William H. Charlton who died Jan.8,1961 buried in St. Thomas West Avenue Cemetery,Elgin County, Township of Yarmouth. Reference: EL580 Parents listed as: Edward Charlton and Mary Jane Britton. William H. Charlton was from Sligo,Ireland born in June 6,1884 or1887 The puzzle here is that the ggrandchildren were told that William H. Charlton died in 1922 in St. Catharines,Ont.,although the parents listed for both deaths are Edward Charlton and Mary Jane Britton. We would like to know if William re-married,or what his life was, after his separation/divorce,or any information on him ,would be greatly appreciated.
