Hi: Believe I know the relatives of your Harriot Tisley. Her father I believe is Matthew Tisley who married three times, first to Sarah Reynolds, then Elizabeth Amey Simmons and then her sister Mary Simmons. I have Harriot's sister, Elizabeth Amey Tisley married to one of mine (John Rowland Collins). Matthew Tisley's son Thomas John Tisley is with Uncle, John Simmonds on 1851 in Tower Hamlets. I have Elizabeth Collins nee Tisley until 1901 still plugging along. Her father Matthew Tisley, according to marriage certificate, was a gun maker. Sylvia

Not much research has been done in this side of our family. He was married to Susan Lucinda Austin (there is lots of info on the Austins). John and Susan were my great-grandmother Gladys Marie Charlton-Herndon's parents. I have several vintage photos that resemble each other and appear to be Charltons. One is a baby of 8 mos named Elmore Roin Charlton Jr...the photo, according to the writing on the back, was 9/10/1903. The other photos are of adults, and they all resemble each other....no one knows who they are, and the photos appear to be in the 1800s. And then there is even a photo, circa late 1800s/early 1900s, of two children who are named Raymond & Treva Pirtle...who also appear to resemble these people, but we know nothing about them.
Does anyone know who John's father was? His mother was Betty Hunter-Charlton....that's all we know. I search the family trees on this website and couldn't come up with anything.
Thanks for any info regarding this line!
Christy

My Charltons went to Hamilton County, from Monroe County, Ohio, after the Civil War. There were three brothers, Charles and wife Amelia Adams, John and wife Lettie McGill, and Edward and Mary Charlton. Their father was William Charlton of Monroe County, Ohio. I don't know where he was from before 1840, but was possibly New Jersey. Contact me if a conection can be made.

Sam,
Do you know the parents of Amanda and Lucy Carr who were married to Edmund Charlton? We recently went to Wingo and Mayfield KY to do research. Also to Hernando MS. We didn't find any indication of the Carr girls' parentage.

Delighted to say I've recently made contact with Arthur Thomas Charlton's daughter-in-law in Quebec and hope to correspond with his other surviving children.
Thank you for your help.
Berk,
Do you have any other information on the CHARLTON line you are reseaching. I
am decendent from the line of Adam CHARLTON, born 1806 in New Castle Upon
Tyne, Northumberland, England, died 1892 in Lynedoch, Norfork County, Ontario,
Canada. Adam's brother, Michael settled near Hamilton and Michael's son
Benjamin was mayor of Hamilton in 1876. Adam's son John was a Member of Parliament
from 1872 to 1906, representing Norfolk County. If you are related to
Michael's line I have more information I will be glad to share with you.

Hello,
Am interested in the JOHN and CHARLES CHARLTON of OHIO that were mentioned in
a posting on the LIST.
Does anyone know if they are connected to a JEPTHA CHARLTON? Also of Ohio
then later, Missouri. Would appreciate any information on JEPTHA CHARLTON.
Thank you.
