Hi
Well, what a mine-field! Just searching through and came across your posting. I don't know if this is of any help to you, but here goes.
My grandma was a Mary Ann Charlton dob 26.4.1986, her mother was an Emily Adelaide Charlton and was born in acomb in the County of Northumberland, registartion districe Hexham. My grandma was born out of wedlock and was supposedly the child of a well to do personage and in fact my grandma was brought up by Nuns and I do believe there is a little family scandle encased in this. Apparently my grandma used her fathers name occasionally which is Carlyle, which becomes confussing doing research as she states her name as both Charlton and Carlyle.
Don't know if this is of any help to you but your welcome to the info
Regards
liz

Hello
I don't normally go into forums but I was looking into surname research for a book I am writing when I saw the Charlton surname.
My grandmother was Sabina Jane Charlton from County Durham and Robert was a common name among her relatives. I had her history researched and have her father as Norman Edward Charlton. They were from the Stanhope area.
If this sounds like your family too I could send you copies.
Best wishes
Avril Harper

The Charlton surname occurs in my family tree and I wondered if any other researcher is looking at the Charltons from the Bethnal Green area of London
I can trace back to the marriage of William Charlton to Harriet Tisley, this is shown on the LDS site. They married at St. Leonards, Shoreditch, 30 August 1822.
Does anyone else share these ancestors and can you put a name to the parents of either?
Cheers, Mick
