Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hello everyone,

Genealogy Forum - message boards -- http://www.genforum.com/
FamilySearch - Mormon/LDS records -- http://www.familysearch.com/
Custom Search - http://www.familysearch.com/Search/searchaf.aspAncestry.com - over 600 million names -- http://www.ancestry.com/

FirstFamilies - a registry - http://business.gorge.net/aff/dbindex.htm

Starting at 8 a.m. PST (11 a.m. EST; 4 p.m. GMT)
on Friday, 23 February, RootsWeb will begin a
planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers
and hosting process. It will limit this downtime as much as
possible, and will return with increased performance and
reliability for future growth.
The downtime should take no longer than 24 hours.
In the meantime, please take time to visit RootsWeb's sister
sites -- Ancestry.com and FamilyHistory.com -- where you will
find additional tools such as message boards, communities,
and databases to help you in the search for your ancestors.
Thank you for your patience.

Regarding the posts by Ken Neder:
Ken has been removed from this mailing list and also from another list I
manage.
He has disrupted both lists with his rambling posts regarding his webpage and
his unhappiness with my requests to keep his posts to the discussion of the
genealogy of CHARLTON (or, in the case of the other list, Beauchamp).
Please forgive the disruption.

Hold one minute now. I am not trying to take anyone from your list or any
other list. You told me to stop recruiting from your list of St. John's, and
I did. My intentions is not my gain, but for all those cousins that are
floating around in cyber space. The site I created is for the use for
everyone that is related through their links. I am not trying to take your
thunder away, but giving you the opportunity to have our cousins store, their
info, data, share photos, and documents. It is more like a holding place,
until the head of the clan decides to invite them to their group. Example.
myfamily.com These families can invite them to their reunions, and share
their heritage with their family. I will not permit or encourage them to stop
using your listing or any other listing, because I strongly believe in
rootsweb, and what it stands for. This is the best Gen Site in our free
world, and I will support the owners of rootsweb, and any rules that they
impose on all users. As for our cousins, they have that freedom to choose,
and make their own decisions. Now, you are always invited to visit and browse
the site. You might find some information that you have been searching for a
long time. Who knows, this could be another tool for completing all your
family links. That is the way I see it. Now, if I am wrong for thinking this
way, then I am wrong. My main quest is to complete all the links to my
lineage's. I call it the Big Link. Also, I have created another site for all
Chieftains, managers, and administrators for all surnames that are concerned.
I call it the Round Table of Clans. This is where the Big Link will be
organized. Also, of course. You are also invited to the round table. My
intentions, is from my heart. But, if you still insist on accusing me of
spamming, and miss using this listing for personal gain. Then, we must take
this up with rootsweb. I don't think it is far for everyone in our clan, or
myself to be restricted in researching our history, communicating, sharing
info, storing important data, and mixing with each other. Would you please
give me the English definition of Spam? I cannot find it in any of my English
dictionaries. Please reconsider your own thoughts in this matter, so we can
work together in our common goals. Respectfully Yours, Kenneth Joseph (Bagg)
Neder, Esq.
Let everyone be the judge of your problem. Let them decide for themselves.
The are not children, or sheep. With respects to rootsweb, and its goals. Ken

Looking for any information on Thomas Charlton of Shenandoah Valley, VA
possibly during the 1800's.
Please e-mail me direct at marianb(a)home.com
This is to all my Charlton cousins. I have started a new site for all
Charlton's cousins and decedent links. This site is big, has a lot of tools,
and storage room. Plus it is free. I mainly open it for the purpose of
letting everyone use it for exchanging info and data. You can share your
family photos, and historical documents. You can exchange information and
communicate with cousins around the world. But first, we need some volunteers
to help invite all that wants to join. I have done the same for over 50 clans
of cousins. Is anyone interested? If you are, email to
Charlton-subscribe(a)smartgroups.com. You are all invited to browse in at your
new site. Have fun cousin's, and I'll get back with you soon. Your cousin,
Ken

You are welcomed to post queries and lineage information about your CHARLTON

Not very good at this, No known dates (yet)
My grandfather, Isaiah Clifford Charlton was born in Sparta Hancock County,
Georgia, married Lena Brooks, also from Hancock County.
Isaiah died around 1969-1970 in Tampa, Florida, Lena died around 1968 in
Maitland, Florida
Sorry, but this is all I know of my father's parents, etc. I would love to
know more, but my father does not know very much about his relatives...
Isaiah and Lena had three children: Isaiah, Jr., Samuel and Annie Lou.
Any help would be appreciated...
Melinda
