Surname: Charlton
-------------------------
Joseph Gibbison Charlton born 24th June 1846 at Whitley in Northumberland
near Newcastle on Tyne. He was my great grandfathers brother. Parents were
Edward Charlton born 1815 in Whickham County Durham, mother was Mary Holmes
born 1816 Shilbottle Northumberland.
Edward had a brother called Joseph Charlton born 31st August 1827 in Whickham.
Edward and Joseph's mother was Elizabeth Charlton born 1792 Whickham but
she was not married. Her parents were Edward Charlton born circa 1740 and
Elizabeth Gofton.
The woman I'm looking for is Ann CHARLTON Baptized in Chester-le-street
according to the IGI and lists her parents as Edward Charlton and ann Scott.
I appologize for not including this info in original letter, Ann also
married a Joseph Close in Chester-le-street in 1808.

I am tracing the Charlton family of Grimsby and Northumberland. My Gt. Gt. Grandfather was Francis Charlton who married Jane Mc Kenzie from Wallsend. They were already shown as living in Grimsby in the 1881 census. My Gt. Grandfather Robert Charlton was born in Newcastle and married in Grimsby in 1874. He and his wife Emma had eight children, of which my Grandfather George was one.
