Surname: CHARLTON, JOHNSON, SULLIVAN
-------------------------
Hello,
I would like to hear from anyone researching CHARLTON families in Goochland
County, Virginia, in the early 1700s.
I'm trying to locate the parents of MARY CHARLTON, born June 1, 1722, Goochland
Co., VA. She was widowed young by a Mr. Johnson, and married June 15, 1749,
in VA, Charles SULLIVAN, born April 2, 1728, Charlotte Co., VA, (son of
Owen Sullivan II and Mary Margaret Hewlett).
Children born to MARY CHARLTON and Charles Sullivan:
i. Moses Sullivan born ca 1762, married Milly Chandler.
ii. Sara Margaret Sullivan married (1) Joseph Dunklin, Jr., married (2)
Micajah Sweeney.
iii. Claiborne Sullivan married Mary Harvey.
iv. Stephen Sullivan married Martha Powell.
v. Hewlett Sullivan born 1763, married Mary Dunklin.
Mary died December 20, 1837 at the age of 115 (proven), Greenville County,
South Carolina, buried Old Grove Cemetery, Greenville County.
Thank you for any information,
LaRae
Hi Nancy and all,
I should have been a bit more clear in my post...the 'gatewaying' is what
they call the new system of automatically -- and instantly -- forwarding on
to the corresponding mailing list any and all posts made to the GenConnect
boards.
As the one who 'administers' the boards for CHARLTON, all posts made to any
of the boards have always come to me...within a minute of when they are
actually posted to the board. I have then 'cleaned' them up a bit by
gleaning the main information, and then have forwarded them on to the
list...about once or twice a week. With the new set up, they will go to the
list at the same moment they come to me.
Since the boards draw from a greater circle of family researchers who are not
necessarily subscribers to the CHARLTON mailing list, it will bring more
information to us at the same time that it brings our list to the attention
of others.
So let's all use the boards to post a query, will, or obit that we might have
in our records, and check out the new system!
Kind regards,
LaRae
Hi,
I would like to let you know about a new Rootsweb program that will greatly
reduce the time it takes for you to receive posts made to the GenConnect
boards. In the past, I have saved any posts made to the boards during the
week, and then sent them to the list on the weekends. Starting now, all
posts will be sent directly to the mailing list, via the new 'Gateway'
system.
This is the announcement from Rootsweb:
"GenConnect boards can now be 'gatewayed' to mailing lists. When a board is
gatewayed to a mailing list, every message posted to the GenConnect board
will be forwarded to the corresponding mailing list. The message sent to the
list will contain the URL of the specific post to allow the list subscribers
to respond directly to the message. In this manner, gatewaying will enable
more effective communication between the mailing lists and the GenConnect
boards."
I hope you will take this opportunity to try out the family GenConnect boards
and post messages to any of the seven different topics: Bible Records,
Biographies, Deeds, Obituaries, Pensions, Queries, and Wills. As we use
these boards to record our family names and information, they will become an
even greater source of research material.
Please visit the GenConnect boards on the CHARLTON Resource page...
