Seeking information on Thomas Anson Charlton b. Aug 21 1859 Verona, Ont. Canada. Parents were Anson Charlton and Catherine Snyder. He married Margaret Matheney in Boone, Iowa June 27, 1884.
Any information would be appreciated.

Beverly,
I don't think we have a match here. My Charltons were from Co. Durham,
England. James Mathew b. 27 Apr 1844 and his wife, Mary Jane Kirtley b. 17
Apr 1847, came over from England in the spring of 1878 with their four
children and lived in Ohio Co. WV before settling in Belmont Co. OH. prior to
1900. Mathew and his sons were coal miners.
I'm still searching for any siblings James Mathew might have had. His
father was George Charlton and his mother was Elizabeth Johnson. They both
stayed in England.

Prince Edward Island in 1808. He is listed variously as a butcher,
currier, tanner and having a meat business.

the following children:

Henry b. 1822 d.? m. Harriet settled Stellarton, N.S.
Edward b. 1825 d. 1866? m. Mary
Thomas b. 1826 d. 1897 m. Honora M. "gone to NY or other parts"

I'm interested in hearing from other PEI Charltons.

I know very little about my CHARLTON ancestors but here goes:
James CHARLTON emigrated from Ireland when very young. He married Jane
Catherine STEPHAN, (1848-1925) I do not know where or when they married.
They had five children: Arthur Charles, Francis, Theresa,b.1873, Emma
and Florence.
They lived in New Haven, CT for sometime, I am not sure if all the
children were born there. I know that Arthur, Theresa and Emma all moved
to Yonkers, Westchester, NY around the 1890's/early 1900's.

Hello CHARLTON Cousins,
Our family mailing list has grown considerably since it began last year, and
many on the list are new subscribers with family information that may be just
what someone else needs. Sooo, let's start a modified ROLL CALL that will
get the ball rolling...
Rather than post your entire CHARLTON family from beginning to end, let's
call for your earliest 3 or 4 generations, or any other 3 or 4 generations
along the line you choose. Be sure to include any full names, dates, and
locations you may have. Be respectful of living persons, however, and do not
share dates for them. That should give enough information to find a long-lost
cousin in the group, and it will certainly add valuable lineage material to
the searchable archives....8-)
Good luck, everyone!

I have over 35,000 names in my FTM Gedcom - and
virtually none of them are Charltons - *sigh*. My
father, John Bealer Charlton, was born 3/13/1915
in Jamestown, NY, son of John Akins Charlton and
Aimee Ethel Bealer.
John Akins Charlton was born 3/1/1880 and died
in July 1959. He was born in Belle Meade (Davidson
Co) TN, son of John Charlton and Elizabeth Akin(s).
This John Charlton raised Tennesse walking horses
and traveled a good bit. Elizabeth died the same year
her son was born, and father John had to put leave
his son in the care of Akin(s) grandparents while he
pursued his living. He eventually married again;
name of this woman unknown, but she had at least
one child of her own. Little John came home to live
with Daddy and stepmother, but this was not to last.
Daddy John was killed in an accident with a horse
in approx 1888 (my grandfather told me he was 8
years old when it happened) and little John had to
go back and live with the Akin(s) grandparents
again.
I do not know anything about John Charlton
father of John Akins Charlton other than what has been relayed above. Elizabeth Akin(s) <---- uncertain
because my grandfather's middle name was definitely Akins (with an 's') whereas the Elizabeth
was supposedly Elizabeth Ellen Akin, daughter
of John Williamson Akin and Mary Ann Grimes
listed in the 1860 Tennessee census for Maury Co.
John Williamson Akin served in the Confederate
Army and my father belonged to the Sons of Con-
federate Veterans based on this descent, which SCV
claims was valid.
My grandfather told my father that he was the "fourth John" in a row. Well, that's a clue. Scouring
the census records in 1860 (whereupon I found the
Akins in Maury County) I found a John Charlton
aged 7 in 1860 son of John Charlton and Mary R in
Maury Co. I do not know if this is my great-grandpa
or not.
Does anyone have Tennessee Charltons of this
period in their database?
Greg

Hi All,
Just for the record, unsubbing from any Rootsweb mailing list -- be it
genealogy-related or any of the special interest/hobby lists -- is identical
to the method used to subscribe to that particular mailing list....just
substitute the word unsubscribe in the body of the message.
In this case,
Send To:
CHARLTON-L-request(a)rootsweb.com
Subject:
Subscribe (or Unsubscribe )
Message:
Subscribe (or Unsubscribe )
Sending mail to any list is done by removing the 'request' from the address...
CHARLTON-L(a)rootsweb.com
...or just 'Reply To' any mail from the list, change the 'Subject' to
whatever you want it to be, fill in your message, and it will automatically
go out to everyone. Not all lists are set up that way, but I feel it is
better to have all 'Reply' mail go directly out to the listmembers, as it
encourages open exchanges....who knows where our next 'connection' will
happen??
Sometimes, however, there are glitches in the system, so if you ever need
assistance with your CHARLTON mailing list subscription, please just let me
know.
Thanks,
LaRae...hopping off soapbox!
