Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
This is a big help to many people, especially
those of us with "old eyes" LOL There are
large-print versions of software manuals
available, etc.

June,
Maybe I have Dathel's age wrong. The Dathel Christine talked about has a
bunch of grandkids and greatgrandkids and lives in Utah.
Are you getting the email from the Charlesworth list okay now? You should
get two of these as I'm sending one to the list.
By the way, if I didn't mention it before, I'm descended from John Carlos
Charlesworth and Alice Elizabeth Barrow(s).
Good luck with getting to the Hakes Family Reunion!

Hi,
To those descended from Thomas & Alice Barrow(s) Charlesworth (or anyone
interested), here are some bits a pieces from my 63 yr. old Uncle Sid. He
has most of the genealogy over in Vancouver, WA, USA. I have to go visit to
get the copies.
One thing he has is Thomas's obituary. I can't wait to get a copy of this.
He was a founding father in UT and it goes into to his life pretty
extensively. I'll share as soon as he does!
He also said Thomas moved across from Nauvoo, ILL to Utah with a handcart.
Can you imagine moving across the US that way? Pushing a handcart with all
your belongings in it? He said if that wasn't enough, Thomas went back to
ILL to help someone else, a friend he though, move across, too!
Sid mentioned that while Thomas was Joseph Smith's bodyguard he was murdered
in jail. He then became Brigham Young's bodyguard (or was assigned it) as
all knew there was nothing Thomas could do to have prevented the murder.
On the ship coming to America he had stowed away (at age 14 or so) When
found out they were going to Keel Haul? him. But 2 Mormon Missionaries paid
his fare and saved him from that torture. I've heard this story many times
before.
Thomas (this also from obit) was the best shot around and the best rider.
This all from my uncles memory (papers are packed away....grrrr.)
Just thought I'd share some very interesting stories.
Oh, he also said Thomas built a motel or hotel in Millard, UT. Without
looking up the papers he has, he couldn't recall the name of it.
Any comments, additions, corrections, discussions are welcome!
Becky

Hi,
I just found this name as Thomas's line way back at Ancestry.com. I put in
Thomas Charlesworth and got alot of information. Only problem is, there is
no submitter info or where the info came from.
(p.s. I don't "belong" to Ancestry.com. So this was a free search)
Name: Joseph Charlesworth
Gender: M
Birth Date: 11 NOV 1770
Birth Place: Cathdrl st peter, Sheffield, yorkshire, eng
Death Date: BEF 1837
Death Place: Chorley, Lancsire, eng
I wonder if anyone can vouch for the info there?
Thanks,
Becky

Hi all,
I just set up a site for us to send files, gedcoms photos and general
attachments. I'll put you all on and set it up "view web only" which means
you won't get email, you have to go there to pick up file attachments if you
want a particular one. When someone sends something there they should
announce it on the regular Charlesworth list so everyone will know.
There's nothing there right now, I just thought this is a good way to share
if we want to share to multiple people. Actually, I'll find something to
put there just to see how it works for everyone. I'll do this later (or
tomorrow) and will let you all know.
Hope this sound good and not too confusing! I'm not real great at
explaining things!
Thanks,
Becky

Hi all,
I'm reposting this for Sherry as I don't think it went to the list.
Please welcome Sherry to the list. She's a descendent of Thomas & Alice
Barrows Charlesworth. I think Christine and I may have her hooked on
genealogy!
Glad to see you here Sherry!

Hi Becky and Christine,
The way this LDS Census works is in a family group. So the first one in
Collins Rowe Charlesworth and he is the Father of the family. The next one
is Josie Juanita Abraham who is Collins's wife and the Mother of this
family.
Carma is the oldest Child, then Dathel, Leora, Geraldine and Iris. So
they are all sisters to each other and belong to these parents. Unless they
were adopted or foster children or cousins living with this family. But in
the relationship area they were listed as a child in this family.
Do you have the information on Dathel's sisters from another source? I
could look up other records on them if you need me to. Let me know if this
information could be a mistake.
Kind Regards,
Lola Stevens

In my last email I had an error Collins is Dathel's Father not
grandfather. James would be her grandfather. By the way I have a family
photo of James Charlesworth and Sarah Melissa Hakes with three of their
children. Collins is not in it as he was not born yet.
