Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I am researchin the ancestry of James . For a long time always believed the M stood for Madison but now wonder if it could be Monroe.
James according to my best cal was born 1810 in Maryland.
He was twiced 1st in Dec 1838 in Lycoming Co Pa to Mary Stout daughter of John R Stout
Had 2 children Francis C ( don't know what the C stands for) born abt 1841 in Lycoming death sometime in the Civil presumed without issue.
Allene Celestine March 18 1847 in Freeport Ill. Her mother died Apr 9 same year and James marries in May same year Mrs Susan Shortreed ( nee Hammond) Allene is my 2 gr grandmother.
I know James and his father in John R Stout were devout Baptists both were members of the Baptist Home Missionary Society in Freeport. When John R left lycoming Pa all of his children and their spouses went to Freeport with him.
I bel Jmaes trade was a Cooper and Cabinetmaker. I last found Jmaes in 1870 census listed as James Croft age 60 , born in Maryland . more info available upon request . Looks like James stayed in Maryland until 1830 he is first found in Lycoming in dec 1838 and in 1840 was living next door tofather in law John R Stout age was listed as abt 30
