It's about time we got our own Rootsweb list, isn't it?
CHARLESCRAFT seems to be a petty rare name. It has been hard to find much
useful information about them on the Internet. I've had a real adventure
trying to confirm the identity of my great grandmother, a Charlescraft from
North Carolina and Mississippi.
Ann A. Charlescraft was born February 17, 1823. An old family Bible has
turned up, thanks to a descendent who owns it and a researcher who has
transcribed it. The bible shows Ann's parents as Isaac and Delila
Charlescraft. They apparently moved from North Carolina to Mississippi,
where Ann married Andrew Jackson (Jack) Leggett on July 2, 1837.
I suspect Ann and her parents were part of the Charlescraft family that lived
in Onslow County on the coast of North Carolina, but I haven't nailed that
connection down yet.
I will be posting more about my CHARLESCRAFT ancestor to this list over the
next few days.
CHARLESCRAFT researchers may be a nearly extinct breed, so we need as many as
we can find for this forum to be effective. If you know of other online
CHARLESCRAFT researchers, suggest they send an e-mail to
CHARLESCRAFT-L-request(a)rootsweb.com with a one-word message: subscribe.
Thanks, and good hunting.
