I have found a bit of a major brickwall with my Charles line.
I have Edward Charles who married Hannah Hulse in Willoughby on the Wolds,
Nottingham, England in 1775. On websites such as Ancestry.com and
familysearch.com it has Edwards birth being as anywhere between 1750 and
1755 at Willoughby and his father as Thomas with a birth year as around 1724
in Willoughby.
I have recently been looking at the parish records for Willoughby on the
Wolds and cannot find either Edward's or Thomas's birth anywhere in the
years listed and upto 10 years either side.
Has anyone with connections to this family found a proven entry for either
of these births? I am beginning to suspect that they weren't born in
Willoughby at all. I have found an entry for Edward's death which gives his
age at death which would give his birth year at around 1749. I have also
found an Edward Charles born at Wymeswold that year but he was illigitemate
and had no father listed.
If anyone can shed some light on these mysteries for me I would love to hear
from you.
Thanks
