While reviewing my PHILLIPS and EMERY ancestors in Warwickshire, it
appears the name CHARLES appears.
My EMERY in question is one Eliza EMERY. She was born in Middlesex
(parents Samuel and Eliza). In 1851 Census, Eliza is listed as 22
and sisters Catharine (20) and Rosa (16) in Aston, Warwickshire.
As a few years pass to 1854, there is a possible
marriage of Eliza EMERY and William Henry CHARLES in the Aston region.
At time slips by, we find the death of 47 year old William Henry
CHARLES in the King's Norton area. And, an attempt to find a Middlesex
born
estimated 52 year old Eliza CHARLES (a widow)
in 1881 Census reveals the location of Yeovil, Somerset.
In Somerset, Eliza CHARLES is shown as being born in Enfield,
Middlesex, age 52 and a widow.
The question that needs to be answered is:
Mrs. ELIZA CHARLES the same Eliza EMERY in Aston in 1851.

I have been searching with not much luck for Frank & Marguerite Charles. Their dau Katherine was born in Baltimore, Md. b: 09 Feb 1890 d: 17 Jul 1937 in Baltimore, Md. Eloped and married John George Leibold, Sr. in Manassas, Va.18 Jul 1911. I keep hoping that by my continual posting that someone might know this Charles family. I have been unable to find them on the census and according to Katherine Charles death certificate her parents came from Russia.
Thank you for any and all help.

David Jay's daughter Mary Jay married Melchezideck Charles in Warren Co. TN
ca 1817. This Charles family followed the Rev. Jay to GA ca 1823-25.
Melchezideck Charles moved to Gilmer Co. GA before 1840 and raised a large
family there.......later migrated to Jackson Co. GA where he died on April
13, 1880. Many of the Charles descendants still reside in north Georgia.

Shortly after migrating from Warren Co. TN to Hall Co. GA in 1822, David Jay
Sr. settled on Hall Co. Land Lot #61 just south of current Murrayville, GA.
On June 16, 1837 the Rev. Jay donated 3 acres of his 240+ acre tract to the
Methodist Episcopal Church "in consideration of his love for the Church and
his desire for its prosperity". This land lot was subsequently sold many
times......to son William Jay, neighbor Nathan Bramlett, etc.......always
including the 3 acre "Hopewell Meeting House" exclusion until the Church
formally acquired the land by recorded deed in 1895.
Today the church and congregation are still vibrant.......with a new
Fellowship Hall no less. Additionally, an immaculate small graveyard exists
next door with a multitude of Jay and allied family graves.
If you are researching, related to or allied to the following family
lines.....Jay, Bramlett, Wallis, Wallace, Mattox, Hurley, Harris, Gamblin,
Rutherford, Charles, Mincey, Waters, Castleberry, Martin, Banks, Leach,
Hise, Lusk, etc. .then this is the event for you.
Individuals requiring lodging can stay in Gainesville, Dahlonega, or Cumming
GA, each is only a 10-20 minute drive from the church. Additionally,
Gainesville has an excellent regional genealogy research library that has
late evening hours......for the obsessed researcher.
