I am working on the German Charles line. Our direct line ancestor was
Andrew Charles who came to America and fought in the revolutionary war (abt.
1780) and moved to Highland County, Ohio in 1804. Before he came and after,
other family members also arrived. Andrew died in 1821 in Highland Co.,
Ohio. He had a relative named John Charles that came to Highland and
Clermont Counties, Ohio before 1800. I believe John was a brother to
Andrew. I am looking for more info on John. John built the first "real"
stone building in Clermont county and later built the first court house, and
many other buildings. He died about 1831.
After coming to America from Germany, Andrew and his relative family members
settled in Pennsylvania; some also settled in the Shenandoah valley of
Virginia before going on to Ohio.
Let me know if you have more info on this line.
Thanks
Peter Charles

Good morning Nancy
This is the Charles line I am working on.
1] William Charles Sr married Sarah Elizabeth? [I believe this Charles had a brother John]
2] William Charles Jr
born about 1635 Marblehead, MASS., died about 1677 Perquimans Co. NC., married
1660 Abigail Bailey
3] Elizabeth Charles
born about 1672, died about 1748, married 1688 Perquimans Co. NC. Samuel Nicholson
My information comes from the Ency. of Amer. Quaker Gen. Vol. I and the NC Historical & Genealogical Register.
I have no dates for William Charles Sr. and I have no idea where he came from.
After looking at the birth and death dates in Historical & Gen. Register I am totally confused. I have found family that had babies at 5 yrs old :) and dead men fathering babies :) and women with multiple husbands:)
Any help is greatly appreciated. It is hard enough if you have correct information to search, but when the info is incorrect, well then, thats another thing:)
Sorry I don't have much to go on. As I mentioned, only starting to work on this and had to take a break.
Sincerely
