Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I posted two parts of my Charles Line because it was too long for one post.
The second post did not come back to me; therefore, I posted it again and
have waited until I received another posting to see if it was OK. Now I have
received # 10 and it does not include my part 2. One member wrote me direct
and I sent part two direct.
What is wrong?

Yesterday I sent a notice that the Olive Tree Genealogy has
recently organized its ships' passenger lists by Place of Arrival.
This new organization of my lists is in addition to the existing files
organized in Chronological Order by Year of Arrival.
I did this to assist researchers who are looking specifically for
ships arriving at a specific location, such as Canada, USA, etc.
It seems there was some confusion over my announcement, so
please allow me to clarify my original note.
While I haven't counted all my passenger lists, there are hundreds --
and I estimate I have between 850 and 950 lists total.
There are over 500 lists for 1800-1900; and approximately 150-200
lists each for 1600s and 1700s. I have a total of 67 lists for 1400s,

I just got through counting the list members and we have over 40, so lets
all pitch in and try to help each other. We specifically need some help
with Charles from the mid Atlantic states. It seems that the New England
ones mostly go back to one John Charles who came to this county in about
1634 (my ancestor), but we have several list members who ancestors came to
this country well into the 1700 and 1800's. We even have a couple of
individuals who are searching for their ancestors in England.

I am searching for Charles' in the Carolinas. I have been able to trace my
grandfathers from George Vernon Charles, G-Franklin Grady Charles, GG-George
Thomas Charles, GGG-Franklin E. Charles. Franklin E. Charles had a brother,
Anderson Charles. Both Anderson and Franklin E. were soldiers in the Civil
War and both survived. I would like to find out further generations if
anyone can help?! Most of the Charles' I know live in the Spartanburg, Union
and Greenville areas of South Carolina. Help!!
Hi,
I posted two posts with my Charles Line. One was My Charles Line 1 and the
other My Charles Line 2. One came back to me and I assume went to all others
on this board. The other was not returned as undelivered, but it never came
back as a post. Also I seem to be receiving in the digest and the individual
form. Were these posts received? Thanks. I'm sure it"ain't" me cause I'm
1/4 Charles and we know we are all smart.

Hi! Nancy made a good point, so here's my info.
I'm looking to move past and verify what little I have on Sarah
CHARLES and her brother John CHARLES, both born in Manchester or
Wigan, Lancashire, UK. Sarah was born in June 1860, and John was born
in 1862. Their parents are (so far) untraced. Sarah was listed in
the 1881 census (we believe) as a cook for the GORE family in Toxteth
Park, Liverpool, UK. John was a miner in the Wigan area around 1900
and (supposedly) died of a lung disease in 1902. Sarah married Joseph
ALAKAVISH sometime between Christmas, 1881 and February, 1891, most
likely in Liverpool. Any leads or connections (or even ideas) are
most welcome.

I realize that many of us are busy with school, work and other activities,
but we several new members and they need to know that the list is really out
there and does really exist to help others reseraching the Charles name. If
you are new to the list please let us know what branch of the Charles family
you are rseraching, and where you have hit the brick wall. Please also help
us out by posting to the list other resources that might be helpful to us.
Thanks.
