Hello list,
**I am looking for the descendants of the following:
1.Elva Charles - living in Tennessee in 1800's as a young girl (10-15 yrs?)
2.La May (or "May") Charles - was about 18 yrs old in 1890; living in
Talladega, Alabama.
....I have 3 old photos (late 1800's) of these two girls - one of Elva, and 2
of "May" one when she was 18, and another as a 16 yr old. I would like to see
these returned to the descendants, so please contact me if these are your
ancestors.
Thanks,
..Marcy Ugstad
I've "rescued" a group of old photographs including one of Miss Amanda
HARTMAN #811 Penn St., Reading, PA taken January 23, 1888 at the Strunk
Studios at 730 Penn St., Reading, PA. Amanda appears to be in her 30's or
40's at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to the photograph of
Amanda I also obtained three other photographs from the same antique dealer
which all appear to have the same handwriting notations on the reverse side:
#1 - Mary G. CHARLES taken May 1894 at the Egan and Holloway Studios in
Philadelphia, PA
#2 - Mr. Elsworth GILES of Huntingdon County, PA the photograph was taken
June 11, 1894 at the Wright Studio in Williamsport, PA
#3 - Unidentified woman, taken at the Leonard Studios in Topeka, Kansas,
photo probably taken in the 1880's, subject appears to be in her 60's at the
time, looks a bit little the girl in #1
I'm not sure what the relationship if any exists between these 4 people,
however, since the notations/identification on the photos is in the same
handwriting I'm assuming they are all connected somewhere. I'd love to be
able to return them to their family or families so that they can be
cherished and passed from generation to generation as they should be.
If you are a member of one of these families or know someone who might be,
please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
