Hi Dave,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I was just trying to see if perhaps you knew of a common connection between Cassimere Leroy and Leon Woods further up the line. Leander struck me as an uncommon name. I thought maybe your Leandre and Cassimere's son Leander might have been named after the same common ancestor. I wouldn't have presumed this based on the name alone, but the geographic commonality and potential cancer connection made me curious.
Anyway, if I can find more distant relatives of mine, living, who come from lines that share the same genetic predisposition to stomach cancer, then we have a better chance of figuring out exactly which gene is involved so that family members can get tested to determine their risk. And besides all that, it's been really interesting just finding out more about my family tree!
Sincerely,
Amy

Hi Amy
I not sure exactly what you are trying to say. Do you think that Leon Woods might somehow be descended from the Cassimere and Genevieve (Mitchell) Leroy line? If so, I don't see a connection.
If you are asking if Leon Woods and Cassimere shared some common Quebec ancestors, I would have to say that it is highly likely since the original Quebec population was comparatively small.
Dave

I'm a 34-year-old survivor of HDGC, hereditary diffuse gastric (stomach) cancer.
Your post listed a Leon (Leandre) who died of stomach cancer. I've traced my family's disease to my great-great-grandparents, Cassimere and Genevieve (Mitchell) Leroy, from Canada. They had 4 children, one a son named Leander. Leon is a common name in my family tree.
This connection might just be a coincidence, but Leon and Leander (Leandre) are fairly uncommon, as is stomach cancer.
Please let me know if you have anything to add to the story or want more info.
Thanks,
Amy
