CHARLEBOIS, Desneiges (nee Brunet) Peacefully on Monday, May 10th, 2004 at 90 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Harvey Charlebois. Daughter of the late Olier and Alphonsine Lefaivre (Brunet). She was the loving mother of three children, Evelyn Thibert (Ronald Goulet), Richard (Dawn Kelly) and Harvey (Susanne Long). Predeceased by brothers and sisters Clemence, Omer, Hercule, Jeanne, Philippe, Sylvio and Alice. She also leaves one sister-in-law Yvette Brunet (Bourbonnais). She will be lovingly remembered by eight grandchildren, Gary, Sandy, Robert, Debbie, Richard, Lynn, Steven and Kevin and seven great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. Many thanks to the staff of the Sarsfield Colonial Home and the staff of the Fourth Floor South, Monfort Hospital. Family will receive relatives and friends in the presence of the ashes at the Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home (241-3680), 180 Montreal Road, Ottawa on Thursday, May 13 from 9:30 a.m. til time of Memorial Service at!

Man Killed. – George Charlebois was killed at Miller’s saw mill, in Portsmouth, on Monday last. A man was carrying a board which accidentally came in contact with an edging saw, which threw it off with great force. It struck Charlebois on the head, fracturing his skull. He only lived a few minutes afterwards. He leaves a wife and three children.

Charlebois – Miss Evelyn Charlebois, 2901 Garfield avenue, died at 7:30 o’clock Monday night at the home of her brother, Clarence Woods, 414 LaSalle street, after a lingering illness of two years. She was born in Hampton township on Sept. 17, 1906, and had resided here all her life. Miss Charlebois was a member of the Visitation church. Surviving her are her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Mrozinski, 823 Garfield avenue; five sisters, Miss Esther Woods, of Detroit, Mrs. Florence Bloom, Mrs. Helen Shorkey, and Mrs. Genevieve Atwatwer, all of Bay City, and Mrs. Dorothy Knepp, of Texas; Three brothers, Clarence Woods and Conrad Mrozinski, both of Bay City, and T/Sgt. George Woods, serving in Panama with the U. S. Army. The body is at the Trahan Funeral home where services will be held at 8:15 o’clock Wednesday morning and at 9 o’clock at Visitation church. The Rev. Fr. George O. Dequoy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.

Mabel Charlebois, 71 years, died Thursday, November 22, 1990 at 9:25 A.M. in Bay Medical Center. Born November 6, 1919 in Brisbane, Australia, she resided in Bay City most of her life. In 1936, Mabel competed in the amateur Athletic Association of Australia and won a bronze medal for the discus event in track and field. She was the first foreign war bride of a Bay City Soldier. For over 28 years she was employed by the B.P.O.E. Lodge #88 in Bay City as a waitress from which she retired in January of 1990. She was a member of St. Boniface Parish, and its Christian Mothers and Altar Society.
The former Mabel Gray was married to Earl E. Charlebois who preceded her in death on April 19, 1983.
She is survived by her three sons and her daughter; Robert (Nancy) Charlebois of Wisconsin, James (Marilyn) Charlebois of Bay City, Ronald Charlebois of Brandon Twp., MI., Debra (Ken) Kusmierz of Munger; 9 grandchildren; two brothers, Colin and Neville Gray both of Australia. Mabel was predeceased by her brother, Robert Gray.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Boniface Church. (Mabel will lie in state in Church Monday after 9:00 A.M.). Rev. James Wm. Bessert will officiate and interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. The Vigil Wake Service will be held Sunday at 7:30 P.M. in the Trahan Chapel. Memorials for the American Cancer Society will be available at the funeral Chapel. Friends may call Sunday from 1 – 5 and 7 until 9 P.M. at the W.A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.

Emil Neering, age 94 years, died at 12:45 A.M. Monday, November 5, 1990 in Bay Medical center following a brief illness. He was born July 8, 1896 in Hampton Township and has resided in Essexville all of his life. He was in the hardware business for over 65 years at Rechlin Hardware and most recently as manager of retail sales at Meisel Hardware, retiring in 1976. Emil was Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Fr. VanRooy Council # 2740 in Essexville. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish, where he was on the Building Committees that organized the building of two churches and two schools. He also served on the Zoning Board in Essexville and the former Essexville Public School Board.
On April 13, 1920, Emil married the former Mary Charlebois, who survives him, along with two sons and their wives, Frank and Beatrice Neering of Bay City, and Kenneth and Sally Neering of Essexville; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six brothers; Gabriel, Bernard, Vincent, Norbert, Devere, and Edward “Bert” Neering; four sisters; Virginia Wainwright, Mary Neering, Mabel Jensen and Margaret Kitson; and two grandchildren; Karen and Richard Neering.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in St. John Church, Essexville. (Emile will lie in state Thursday from 10 to 11 A.M. in church). Rev. Robert J. Deland will preside, and interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Members of the Knights of Columbus #2740 will join in the Vigil Wake Service, which will be held Wednesday at 4:00 P.M. in the Trahan Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John’s Church Building Fund. Visiting hours will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 – 5 and 7 – 9 P.M. at the W.A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.

Mary G. Neering, age 102 years, died Monday, June 4, 2001 at Alterra Clare Bridge Cottage of Bay City. She was born May 26, 1899 in Linwood, Michigan and resided in Essexville most of her lifetime. At one time she was employed as a clerk at the former Bay City Cash. Mary was a lifetime member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Essexville, the league of Catholic Women and Men. Past President of the L.C.B.A., and Past President of St. John Altar Society.
Mary is survived by her two sons; Kenneth (Sally) Neering of Essexville and Francis J. (Rose Mary) Neering of Bay City; five grandchildren; Debra (Don) Diven of Fairport, NY, Charles Neering of Cold Bay, AK, Michael (Jean) Neering of Santa Rosa, CA, Susan Shaffer of Midland, Barb (Jeff) Hunt of Bay City; six great-grandchildren; Craig (Danielle) Neering, Amy (Alex) Perkic, Kirstie Neering, Jackie Shaffer, Sara DeMocker, Kyle Neering; two great-great grandchildren; Jordan and Abigail Perkic; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Emil Neering on November 5, 1990, a daughter-in-law, Beatrice Neering and a grandson, Richard J. Neering.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, June 7, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Essexville. Mary will lie in state in church Thursday after 10:00 A.M. Rev. Thomas J. McNamara will preside and interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. The Vigil Prayer Service will be Wednesday at 7:00 P.M. in the Trahan Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Dominican Sisters of Marywood Retirement Fund.

GUS WOODS MISSING
STARTED ON SKATES FOR STATE ROAD CROSSING
The police were informed yesterday that on Wednesday afternoon Gus Woods started to skate from this city to State Road crossing, and his relatives fear he has been drowned. Mrs. Woods saw her husband start from the D. & M. railroad bridge, and the same evening she left for the crossing on the train. Woods has not been seen since he left the bridge and his prolonged absence causes great apprehension. He is about 22 years old.

Charles Woods Rites
Monday in Pinconning
Funeral Services for Ludger Charlebois, better known as Charles Woods, will be held in St. Anne's church, Linwood, Monday morning at 9 o'clock, following an 8:30 o'clock home service.
Mr. Woods was a pioneer of Bay county, coming to this area 69 years ago, from Montreal, Canada. His life, like those of other early residents, was a saga of Michigan lumber. Among the jobs he held was the managership of the Sherman Saro Mill, at Terry Station, now known as Linwood, and the Managership of several lumber camps.
Services for Mr. Woods will be held at his home on Linwood R.F.D. No. 1, following which church services will be held at St. Anne's and burial in St. Anne's cemetery, at Linwood.
The Rev. Fr. Joseph V. Barrette will be the celebrant at solemn high requiem mass while the Rev. Fr. George Vincent will serve as deacon and the Rev. Fr. James Parent, as sub-deacon.

CLAYTON, N.Y., June 9. - Two sons of Eli Charlebois, 4 and 14 years old, respectively, were drowned in the river here yesterday while after a pail of water. It is supposed that the younger fell into the water and the elder brother endeavored to save him, as his coat and vest were found on the river's bank. Both bodies have been recovered.

MONTREAL, Oct. 21 (Canadian Press). - Joseph Charlebois, artist and cartoonist, well known for his work in La Presse, Montreal, died yesterday. His age was 63. He illustrated addresses presented to King Edward, King George and the Prince of Wales during their visits here. For ten years he was an illustrator and artist in New York.

Gisele Larouche, 3 Deslauriers, Val Rita, died in her home May 7. She was 64 years old.
Mrs. Larouche was born Oct. 28, 1938 in Val Cote, Ontario.
She worked as a cook and was involved with Club UNO. Mrs. Larouche enjoyed camping, gardening, painting, knitting, crocheting, sewing and wood working.
She was predeceased by her husband Gaston, brother Fernand Charlebois, son Roger and grand daughter Melanie.
Mrs. Larouche is survived by her daughter Julie of Val Rita; sisters Alice Charlebois of Kapuskasing, and Therese Cloutier of Hearst; brothers Raymond Charlebois of Kapuskasing and Gerald Charlebois of Val Cote; and four grandchildren, Eric, Angele, Jeremy and Emelie-Anne.
Fathers Louis-Philippe Belanger and Fernand Villeneuve was performed funeral services May 12 at Sainte Rita Church in Val Rita.
Mrs. Larouche was interred at the Val Rita Cemetery.
Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Funeral director was Guenette Funeral Home.

Sophie Louisa Leroux (nee: Charlebois), of Hearst

Funeral services for longtime Hearst resident Sophie Louisa (nee Charlebois) Leroux, 99, of 413 Tremblay St. were held Jan. 10, 2003. She died, Jan. 7, at Notre-Dame Hospital just six months short of her hundredth birthday.
Born July 23, 1903 in what was then Nord Plantagenet, Prescott Township, she came to the Hearst area at a young age, and later lived for periods with family in Windsor.
She enjoyed knitting, playing cards and reading.
She was predeceased by her husband Herve Leroux of Windsor in 1980, daughters Rita Rondeau of the Montreal area in 1992 and Simone Corbin Belanger of Ville-Marie, Que., in March 2000, and sons Paul-Emile of Windsor in 1973, Alcide in 1986, Louis Joseph of Orillia in 1994, and Rene Leroux of Hearst in 1997.
She leaves her sons Gerard (Marilyn) of Orillia and Andre (Margaret) Leroux of Windsor, a daughter Marie-Anne Rondeau of Hearst, 39 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren, and five daughters-in-law.
Rev. Gerald Chalifoux officiated the afternoon service at the Eglise St-Pie X Church. Interment followed at the St-Sacrement Cemetery in Val Cote.
Funeral director was the Salon Lafrance Funeral Home.
Commemorative gifts may be made to the Foyer des Pionniers Nursing Home.
