MRS. FORTUNE GALLO
Mrs. Sofia Gallo, wife of Fortune Gallo, grand opera impresario, died on Wednesday aboard the Steamship Saturnia, now on the way to New York from Genoa and due to dock here on Monday.
Mrs. Gallo was born in San Francisco sixty-one years ago, a daughter of Deliah and Charles Wood. After attending San Francisco University, she studied piano and voice at the Frank Damrosch Conservatory here. She was playing in musical stock companies in San Francisco when she met Mr. Gallo. They were married there in 1912.
She toured with the San Carlo Opera Company, founded by her husband, and had leading roles. In 1914 she was heard in such favorites as "Faust," "La Boheme" and "Pagliacci."
Surviving besides her husband is an uncle, Thorn Kashow of San Francisco.

FRANK DONOHUE EXPIRES AT 61
Former Mail Truck Driver, World War I Veteran, Was Ill 12 Weeks
Frank John Donohue, 61, of 924 Academy street, former mail truck driver in Clayton and a veteran of World War I, died at 2:45 Friday afternoon in the U.S. Veterans Administration hospital of Syracuse, where he had been a patient only for about 45 minutes.
Mr. Donohue, who had been ill at his home here for the past twelve weeks of a heart condition, was taken to the hospital critically ill Friday morning. An autopsy was performed to determine the cause of death.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth G. Charlebois Donohue; two children, Mrs. Ross F. (Lucile B.) Nadelen, 924 Academy street, and Paul F. Donohue, 928 Academy street; five grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Stephen (Mary) Favret, Capr Vincent, and Miss Hilda Donohue of St. Mary’s church rectory, Elmira.
A resident of Clayton the greater part of his life, Mr. Donohue formerly transported the U. S. mail by truck to and from the postoffice and railroad station in Clayton and for a time in Watertown.
During the latter part of his life, however, he followed the occupation of a steam-fitter and was last employed in that capacity at Camp Drum.
Mr. Donohue was born in Cape Vincent Sept. 10, 1899, a son of the late Martin J. and Delia Doctuer Donohue. As a child he moved to Clayton, where he was educated in the public schools and was graduated from the village high school.
Mr. Donohue drove the mail delivery truck in Clayton for many years and in New York for about a year prior to moving to Watertown in 1939.
After moving to this city, he became a steam-fitter and for a time was employed by the Ryan Plumbing & Heating company. Later he served as a steam-fitter on various construction projects throughout the state. But for the past five years worked at Camp Drum.
During the first World War period he served in the Army.
Mr. Donohue married Miss Elizabeth G. Charlebois, Watertown, daughter of the late Mr. And Mrs. L. William Charlebois of this city, on July 19, 1924 in the Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart here.
He was a 40-year member and past commander of the Colon-Couch Post, 821, American Legion, of Clayton. He was a member of the Holy Fmily church and its League of the Sacred Heart and was a former menber of the Knights of Columbus.
The funeral will be Monday morning at 8:30 from the Cummings funeral home and at 9 in the Holy Family church. Burial will be in Glenwood cemetery.

Elizabeth Charlebois, 67, Ex-Empsall Worker, Dies
Mrs. M. Elizabeth Charlebois, 67, of 1123 Gotham St., wife of Harold L. Charlebois, died at 11:20 p.m. at the Mercy Hospital Madonna Home where she had been a resident since February. She had entered Mercy Hospital in September and was later transferred to the Madonna Home. She had been in failing health for the last two years.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home and at 3 p.m. at Holy Family Church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made in her name to the Sisters of the Precious Blood or to the Heart Fund.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Gary W., 1116 Temple St., and John H., 210 Flower Ave., four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Marie Gracey, Limerick, and a brother, William Patterson, Patterson Road.
Born April 3, 1910, in Watertown, a daughter of William and Anna Pender Patterson, she attended Watertown High School and Central Business School and married Harold L. Charlebois June 17, 1929, at Holy Family Church with Rev. Joseph P. Heslin officiating.
Mr. Charlebois is a retired contractor.
Mrs. Charlebois had worked from 1965 to 1975 at Empsall’s Department Store, working mainly in the office and was an assistant to Mrs. Shirley Gilbert, vice president of the company.

CAROLYN G. KEELAN OF WATERTOWN DIES AT 84
Carolyn G. Keelan, 84, of 1107 Academy St., died at 2:06 a.m. today in the house of the Good Samaritan, where she was admitted Sunday.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Church, with Monsignor Robert J. McCarthy officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Cleveland-Miller Funeral Home.
She is survived by a son, Joseph A., Westford, Mass.; a daughter, Carolyn Griffin, Saugerties; four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Mary Murphy, died before her.
Born Oct. 23, 1906, in Watertown, daughter of Albert O. and Florence McGowan Charlebois, she graduated from Watertown High School and was employed by the Board of Education at North Junior High School and later at State Street School as a secretary to the principal.
She married James J. Keelan Aug. 23, 1941, in Holy Family Church. Mr. Keelan died Sept. 24, 1964.
Mrs. Keelan worked for the Niagara Mohawk Power Co., the Hospix TV Service at the House of the Good Samaritan and at Mercy Hospital, and had been a bookkeeper for Seaway Sales.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

E.J. CHARLEBOIS DIES SUDDENLY
SUFFERS CORONARY THROMBOSIS AT HIS HOME
VETERAN OF WORLD WAR, 46
Salesman and Driver for General Baking Company Here Had Evidently Been in Good Health - Was Native of Chaumont.
Eugene J. Charlebois, 46, salesman and driver for the General Baking company and a veteran of World War I, died suddenly of a coronary thrombosis about 8:15 Sunday morning at his home, 451 South Massey street.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9 from the family home and at 9:30 in St. Patrick's church. The body will be placed in the city vault to await burial in the spring at Norwood
Mr. Charlebois was about to get out of bed Sunday morning, intending to go to church, although he had a cold. Apparently, he was stricken as he sat on the edge of the bed. He then got back into bed, but was dead within five minutes.
He evidently had been in good health. On Dec. 14 he suffered the loss of two fingers by amputation as the result of an accident. He was adjusting the belt of the fan in the motor of the truck when the fan so badly cut the fingers that they had to be amputated.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Dorothea F. Levison Charlebois; three children, Mrs. Harlow H. (Ruth M.) Mallett, Kenneth O. Charlebois and Paul F. Charlebois, city; four brothers, Frank Charlebois, Massena, Victor J. Charlebois, city, Emil Charlebois, Newark, N. Y. and Joseph Charlebois, New York, and five sisters, Mrs. William H. (Henrietta M.) Squire, Plattsburgh, Mrs. Frederick (Azelia) Nichols and Mrs. Eugene (Angeline) Harris, Norwood, Mrs. Thomas J. (Mary C.) MeMahon, Watertown, and Mrs. Allen (Lucy) Bush, Lowville.
Mr. Charlebois was born at Chaumont Aug. 30, 1896, a son of the late Joseph and Azelia Duford Charlebois. As a child, he came to Watertown with his parents and attended school here. In 1910 he moved with his parents to Norwood and completed his education there.

Helen Charlebois
SPRINGFIELD - A celebration of life was held March 22 at Monta Loma Park in Springfield for Helen V. Dorman Charlebois of Springfield, who died March 16 of cancer. She was 86.
Charlebois was born May 21, 1917, in Pierre, S.D., to Clyde and Beatrice Hoffman Hooper. She married Bernard Charlebois on Dec. 19, 1993.
She attended schools in Klamath Falls. She also lived in Medford before moving to this area in 1961. She lived in Eugene for 30 years before moving to Springfield. She worked at the Bon Marche for 17 years and retired in 1994. She was a member of TOPS, Willamette KOPS Honor Society, the Friendship Club and the Red Hat Society.
She enjoyed reading, walking, dancing, music and shopping for antiques. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Bob McGill of Cottage Grove and Greg Paup of Springfield; two sisters, Erva Geist of Fallbrook, Calif., and Ima Grow of Woodburn; and two grandchildren.
Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service, Eugene, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made a hospice program.
