LAURENE ELIZABETH GROVER CHARLEBOIS
God held out his loving arms and took Laurene to Heaven August 28, 2003, ten days after her 90th birthday. Her gentle caring spirit will be missed by her daughter, Evie Brennan of Scottsdale, AZ, her son, David Charlebois of Yorba Linda, Calif., and their families.
Laurene was born in Houston, Minnesota August 18, 1913, to Celia Larson and Edward Grover. She grew up in that small farming town where she excelled in academics. She attended St. Olaf College on a full scholarship and graduated summa cum laude in 1936.
She moved to Los Angeles after graduation and married Leo A. Charlebois in 1941. While rearing her two children, she worked at Security Pacific Bank as an Escrow Officer. After retiring, she moved to Sun City and more recently to Mesa, AZ.
"Grandma Bunny," as she was known to her 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, mastered the art of cake decorating and delighted in creating special treats to make family gatherings special. She also enjoyed writing poetry, playing bridge, and needlecrafts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, and grandaughter, Stacey Charlebois. She leaves behind her children, Evie and David, their spouses, Gary Brennan and Sandy Charlebois, grandchildren Rob (and spouse Kimi), Rick, and Tamara Tetzlaff, Heather (and spouse Lance) Sievers, Tim and Stephanie Charlebois, step-grandchildren, Carrie, Kelly and John Brennan, great grandaughter Camryn Sievers, and step-great-grandchildren Kristal and Aaron Caerbert. Stacey and Leo will greet you, Mom. We will all miss you but we will see you again someday. God's Peace be with you.
Private memorial services will be held in Los Angeles. Internment will be in Houston, Minnesota. Contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald Camp Good Times, 1954 Kotner Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90025.

Mrs. Melby, 59, Dies In Minot
Mrs. Nels J. Melby, 59, resident of Minot for many years, died Sunday in a local hospital, where she had been a patient for a week.
Funeral plans have not yet been completed, word being awaited from relatives at a distance.
A son, Arthur Charlebois, lives in Minot and there are five daughters, Mrs. Henry Widdel, Minot; Mrs. J. K. Stuart, Anderson, Ind.; Mrs. William Higginbotham, Los Angeles; Mrs. J. C. Martin and Mrs. Rachel Giavonazzi, Duarte, Calif.
Other survivors with the husband and children are Mrs. Melby’s sister, Mrs. Victor Anderson, Bismarck; and three brothers, John and Albert Vollan, of Wilton and Alfred Vollan of Seattle.
Born at Benson, Minn., June 6, 1891, she was the former Ellen Vollan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Vollan of Bensen. She came to Minot approximately 40 years ago.
Her first husband was Arthur J. Charlebois, whose death occurred in 1929. Four years ago she was married to Mr. Melby. The family home is at 25-5th st ne.
The rosary will be recited at 8 o’clock this evening at the Thomas funeral home.

Stuart of Anderson, Ind., who had come to Minot for the services, was called back to Indiana by a death in the family and left Tuesday night after being here for a day.

LA FAMILLE ROMAIN a le regret de vous annoncer le deces de MONSIEUR CLIFFORD ROMAIN decede le samedi 29 novembre 2003, a l'age de 73 ans. Il laisse dans le deuil son epouse bien-aimee Myrna Marion; ses fils: Charles (Line Charlebois) et Randy (Maura Athayde); ses petits-enfants: Nicholas, Stephanie et Caroline; ses freres et soeurs: Lorne (Helen), Jean (Eva), Jeanette (Mandoza), Cecile et Elaine (Darwin) ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nieces et amis. Il fut predecede par son fils Bruce et ses soeurs: Jacqueline et Colette. Il n'y aura pas de visites au salon. Un service religieux en presence des cendres aura lieu le mardi 2 decembre 2003 a 11h, en l'eglise St-Gregoire-de-Nazianze.
