Eugene L. “Gene” Charlebois, Sr., 74, of Ivy Street, Attleboro Falls, died on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at the Boston Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Derith A. (Shea) Charlebois to whom he was married on June 30, 1947.
Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on March 3, 1929, he was a son of the late Ernest L. and Suzanne (Giroux) Charlebois. Raised and educated in Attleboro, Mr. Charlebois was a 1947 graduate of Attleboro High School. He resided in Attleboro until moving to the Attleboro Falls section of North Attleboro 50 years ago.
He and his father were the founders, owners and operators of Elco Floor Covering on Park Street in Attleboro from 1944- 1993.
Mr. Charlebois was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church in the Attleboro Falls section of North Attleboro.
An active member of the community, Mr. Charlebois was a member and past president of the Attleboro Lions Club, served as chairman of the Attleboro United Way campaign, served as a board member and chairman of the Attleboro Mental Health Association and was a member of the board of directors of the Attleboro Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization.
Mr. Charlebois was a member of the board of directors and was an advisory director at the First Federal Savings Bank and Bank of America both in Attleboro and Swansea.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed learning historical factoids.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, he leaves two sons: Eugene L. “Chip” Charlebois, Jr. of Plainville and Matthew E. Charlebois of Raymond, Maine; six daughters: Mary S. “Suzy” Chace of Attleboro Falls; Ann E. Tausek of Brewster; Kely (one “l”) J. Knowles of Orleans; Patricia M. Mechlinski of North Attleboro; Sarah M. Huntington of Westport and Amy M. Quigley of Attleboro Falls; two brothers: Raymond E. Charlebois of Attleboro and Ernest “Jig” Charlebois in Pennsylvania; 23 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Friday, October 24, 2003 at 12:00 Noon in the “Commonwealth Chapel” of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue (exit 5 off I- 95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, ¾ mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro followed by a funeral service in the “Commonwealth Chapel” at 1:00 PM. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Damon was a homemaker. She had also been a real estate agent for Doney Realty, Watertown, and was a personal secretary for the Rev. William Connor, Watertown.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, was a former member of the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of the Jesus is Lord Prayer Group at the church. She was fond of horses and enjoyed horseback riding.
Born Dec. 2, 1929, in Binghamton, daughter of Louis and Lillian K. Raymo Smith, she moved with her family to Massena and later to Watertown. She attended schools in Massena and Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School in 1947. She also attended St. Lawrence University, Canton.
She married Clifford F. Damon Jr. on March 3, 1949, at Holy Family Church rectory, Watertown, with the Rev. William Argy officiating.
Surviving besides her husband are six sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul S., Peter J., Timothy J. and Kimberly D., Eric J. and Michelle, and Gregory A., all of Watertown, and Jordan A., Syracuse; eight daughters and five sons-in-law, Marie Claire D'Arcy, Ogdensburg, Diane M. Davis, Lowville, Karen A. and Gary Burns, and Sherry M. and Clifton Charlebois, all of Watertown, Mary Damon and Rusty Walker, Point Peninsula, Catherine A. Damon, Warrensburg, Jill M. and Frank Dehn, Florida, and Judy M. and Dan Mosley, Gaithersburg, Md.; a sister, Mrs. David (Norma) Nicholson, Albany; 30 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. William Connor and the Rev. Andrew Torma officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Watertown.

Alice L. Charlebois, 93, of 607 E. South St., died Monday at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. Mrs. Charlebois was a homemaker.
Born in Rochester on Sept. 28, 1909, a daughter of Alfred J. and Agnes Elie LaPointe, she graduated from A. Barton Hepburn Hospital School of Nursing in 1931. From the time of her graduation until 1944, she was a private-duty nurse and an investigator for the Ogdensburg Welfare Department.
She married J. Dieudonne "Don" Charlebois on July 9, 1942, at Notre Dame Catholic Church with the Rev. Euclid Elie officiating. Mr. Charlebois, who owned a hardwood floor business, died May 5, 1989, at age 84.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, M. Yvonne and Jude Lesperance, Ogdensburg; a son, L. Don Charlebois, Potsdam; a sister, Lucille Degone, Ogdensburg; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Agnes Greene and Yvonne Santamont.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Notre Dame Church, with the Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Frary Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Notre Dame Heritage Fund

Francis "Babe" Choiniere 1924 - 2003
Francis J. "Babe" Choiniere, 78, 417 ½ Burdick Expressway East, Minot, ND, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, in a Minot Medical Center.
Francis was born on July 24, 1924 in Willow City, North Dakota, the son of Ernest and Aimee (Charlebois) Choiniere. They moved to Minot in 1930 and he attended St. Leo's Catholic Grade School and graduated from St. Leo's Catholic High School in 1941. He entered the US Navy in 1942 and served on several ships during WWII and was stationed on Estpirius Sanctos in the South Pacific. He continued on with the Navy making it is career. He retired from the Navy in 1968. He returned to Minot where he worked at the Minot Air Force Base until retiring in 1978. He remained in Minot until his death.
He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Minot Labor Temple. He was also a member of the American Legion Honor Guard.
Survivors: brother, Paul Choiniere and his wife, Bertha, Karlsruhe; sister, Paula Ayres and her husband, Bill, Modesto, California. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jeannette Olive and Beatrice Hendricks and a brother, Rene Choiniere.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot, ND.
There will be a vigil prayer service on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at 5:30 p.m. at the Thompson- Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

She was born in Sudbury on July 9, 1917, the daughter of Michael and Georgiana (Charlebois) Briere.
She married Bertrand Spink Doane on May 11, 1933, in Benson. Mr. Doane died March 17, 1998.
Mrs. Doane and her husband lived first in Orwell at Stevens Orchard, where he was employed. They moved to their farm in Benson in 1946. In 1964, they moved to Fair Haven, where Mrs. Doane was employed at Sager's Nursing Home for 12 years.
She was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven.
Survivors include five daughters, Shirley Faverty of Williston, Flora Jane Towle and Joby Mallory, both of Fair Haven, Phyllis Komlos of West Chazy, N.Y., and Judy Doane of San Francisco; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Doane had no surviving sisters or brothers.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Fair Haven. The Rev. Richard Tinney, pastor, will officiate. A private graveside committal service and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Following the Mass, the family will receive friends at St. Mark's Church hall.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Vermont Regional Genetic Center, 1 Mill St., Suite 3-1, Burlington, 05401, and should be designated for HHT research.
The Mallory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
