Helen P. Charlebois, 81, of Carlton Road, Syracuse, died Monday at University Hospital. A native of Syracuse, she was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary School and Powelson Business Institute. She retired in 1981 as a ward secretary at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. She was a communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church, where she was a member of the senior club and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a volunteer at Most Holy Rosary School and a member of Oxford Street Inn Sandwich Project. Survivors: Her husband of 58 years, Philip J.; three daughters, Sister Helen Ann (Theresa) of Syracuse, Mary C. Gonnella of Baldwinsville and Noreen C. McIntyre of Rochester; three sons, Philip J. Jr. and Brendan J., both of Syracuse, and Edward A. of Tolland, Conn.; 13 grandchildren. Services: 10:15 a.m. Friday at Whelan Bros. Funeral Home and 11 a.m. in Most Holy Rosary Church. CHARLEBOIS - Robert Rolland Charlebois on Sunday, June 2, 2002 at his home, after a short illness due to cancer. Beloved husband of Druscilla Penman Charlebois of 36 years. Father of Jean-Pierre Nolan and Therese Charlebois Gros. Son of the late James Aza Charlebois (Woods) and Ernestine Leroux Charlebois (Woods) LaLande. Brother of Regina Woods Fitzgerald and Thomas Charlebois Woods. Grandfather of Lance Gros. Other family members include 2 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law, 7 nieces, 5 nephews, 8 grandnieces and grandnephews and 2 great grandnephews. Also many cousins in New York, Canada and Texas. Mr. Charlebois' father was a Captain on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River and adapted the Woods name ( a derivative of the French Charlebois) for employment purposes during the 1930's. Robert Charlebois was born March 10, 1920 in Les Cedres, Country of Soulange, Providence of Quebec, Canada. He resided in Ogdensburg, New York until he attended Murray State College, Kentucky!
, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in business in 1941. During WWII, Mr. Charlebois served in the Merchant Service on merchant ships in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. D-Day June 6, 1944 he was on a fuel ship in the English Channel off Normandy. Robert graduated from the United States Maritime Service Office's School, New London Connecticut as an Ensign August 1944. Mr. Charlebois retired in 1986 from ADM Grain Elevator in Ama, Louisiana where he had been employed as an industrial electrician for 17 years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1025 Napoleon Ave., New Orleans, LA. 70115 on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at 1:30 P.M. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again at the church on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 from 11:30 am until time of Mass. Robert Rolland Charlebois, a retired industrial electrician, died Sunday of cancer at his home. He was 82. Mr. Charlebois was born in Les Cedres, Quebec, Canada, and lived in Ogdensburg, N.Y., for many years and in New Orleans for the past 37 years. He graduated from Ogdensburg High School. He received a bachelor's degree in business from Murray State University in Kentucky and graduated from the U.S. Maritime Service Academy in New London, Conn., as an ensign. During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marine on ships in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. He was employed at ADM Grain Elevator in Ama for 17 years. He was a parishioner of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Druscilla Penman Charlebois; a son, Jean-Pierre Nolan Charlebois; a daughter, Therese Marie Charlebois Gros; a brother, Thomas Charlebois Woods; a sister, Regina Woods Fitzgerald; and a grandson. In loving memory of Edward “Eddy” Joseph Charlebois 79 years, who passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 20, 2001 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph Health Center. Born in St. Charles, he married Sadie in 1959 in Sudbury. He worked at Lougheed's Ltd. as a driver for many years, then became security guard at the Sudbury Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1987. Eddy was a World War II veteran he was member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 564 Lockerby, the War Pensioners of Canada and the Sudbury Game and Fish Club. He was a past steward and secretary at O.P.S.E.U. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He will be sadly missed but always remembered with love. Predeceased by her sister Carmene Collin- Vaillancourt. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Therese was a kind, gentle and lovable person. God will be waiting for her with open arms. She will always remain in our thoughts and in our hearts. At the family’s request, there will be no public visitation. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. I have two Hedrick's in my family. The first one was Mollie HEDRICK (maiden name unknown). She was born 1868-69 in Illinois.Possibly married about 1894-95. Husband's name unknown. She was listed on the Mt. Carmel, Wabash Co., IL census as; W, age 51, address; 203 East Second Street. Her granddaughter was also living there. The granddaughter was my mother. Mollie's father was from Tenn. and her mother was from Virginia. Their names unknown. Mollie had at least one child-Catherine or Katherine born about 1895 in IL. Would be greatful for any information.
