Joseph Charland
The following, taken from the "Seattle Times," tells of the death of Joseph Charland, a former resident of this city:
"Joseph CHarland, who was one of Seattle's oldest residents in number of years of life, died Friday, August 20th, 1925, aged 97, and was buried August 22nd, with funeral services at 9 o'clock in the morning in St. Margaret's Parish Church.
"Mr. Charland was born near Montreal in 1828 and had uninterrupted good health until two years ago. He became critically ill July 27 last while celebrating his 97th birthday anniversary.
Before he came to Seattle, 1828, Mr. Charland lived in Minnesota. He went there from Canca in 1856. Arriving here he made his home with a son, Fred, 3621 32nd Avenue, W., and resided with him continuously until his death. He has one other son here, John Charland.
"The is a son, Eli, in Somerset, Wis., and three daughters also survive, Mrs. Mary Thomas and Mrs. Millie Smith, of Eau Claire, Wis., and Mrs. Lizzie Williams, of Winona, Minn., several grand children and nine great grandchildren."
[I am not related to this family. This obituary was on the same page as another individual that I am researching, and I thought the information may be helpful here.]
