Tim, I have that the father is FIRMIN ZEPHIRIN Charette. He was married to Modeste Gagnon on 2 Aug 1868 in Van Buren ME.
It is not a primary source, but usually reliable. Would like to continue directly.
Ray

Message Board Post:
My 2gr grand mother was Laura Charette born abt 1870 in Maine. I have her in the 1880 Census in Van Buren with parents and siblings (Georgina, Mary Ann, Emma, John B, Leonard, and J Alfred). The writing is poor and I can make out hre mother, Modeste, but not her father.
In the early 1880s she married Thomas Currier and they eventually had 4 children, Marie, Agnes, Mary, and Thomas. The couple moved to Fall River, MA by 1900 and by 1910 they were in Rhode Island.
Since towns in Maine were not required to submit their records to a central place until 1892, I am at a dead end -- cant find a marriage record so I cant find Modeste's maiden name, cant find the father prior to 1880. Can you suggest a potential source of more information on this family?
Thank you,
