Hi Brian,
thanks for sending a note,
yes I knew that this surname do exist, I found a lot who came from England
and some from
Irland in different US census pre-1900, never search if a relation exist
within Cherett and Charette in
Europe.
Do you have genealogy information and how far back, cause our ancestors
settled in
Quebec in 1647, from France but nobody ever found where he was born.

Hi Ray,
Any thoughts on an 'Observer' or 'Liaison' membership for those
who may be indirectly connected and/or overseas - eg myself from Devonshire
UK but originating from 'Cherretts' of Corfe Mullen, Dorsetshire?
Take care,
Brian Cherrett

Hi Brian,
That's a new one. I don't see why not.
We have not run across this spelling before.
Is there a French background or is that strictly an English name?
Our origins in France are still unknown beyond the immigrant's parents. The
name could possibly have been CHAURE.
Will put you on the list and keep you informed.
Ray
Dear Charette family members:
Plans for the establishment of the CHARETTE/CHAREST FAMILY ASSOCIATION
continue to progress slowly. Details still have to worked out. However, it
is felt that we can lay the basic foundation and proceed from there.
Denis and I have come up with a TEMPORARY slate of officers. We have taken
the liberty of including a couple names in positions. This will only be if
the persons themselves will agree to it. The key position is that of
Treasurer. Until a permanent slate is elected, a bank account is not needed
at this time.
We have received confirmations for some of the area representative positions
at this time. We would request an RSVP from these persons signifying
acceptance.
If anyone receiving this letter/E-mail feels that they could assume any of
the positions listed, even if already assigned, please feel free to notify
us. We would be very happy to receive such an overture.
President - Ray Thomas Vice President - Denis Charest
Secretary - Sr Paulette Charette Treasurer -
Area Representative - Too soon to designate specific areas
Everett Charette - Ohio & Midwest Gerard Charette - Ontario
Donald Charette - Massachusetts Gary Bard - Missouri and area
Ray Thomas - Connecticut & area And any other volunteers?
Here are some of the basics so far:
1. English and French on all correspondence to everyone (Please designate to
us which is preferred).
2. CHARETTE/CHAREST FAMILY ASSOCIATION - ASSOCIATION DES FAMILLES
CHARETTE/CHAREST.
3. Positions as above.
4. Quarterly Newsletter/Bulletin - 1st and 3rd-Newsletter: 2nd and 4th
Bulletin
5. Dues - $10.00(US), Apprpriate amount (CAN)
6. Member classes - Adult ($10.00): Family(2) ($18.00): 3 or more ($25.00)
Please send any suggestions. We are the "Charter Members". We move forward
from here. It is OUR Association. We can and will make it work, but only
with dialogue and cooperation.
