Dear Chapple Reasearchers,
I found this listed on E-bay yesterday and given that it contains a treasure trove of information for some researcher if they are related to this bunch, I thought I wou;d post this note to the Chapple list. I have checked and with all the Chapple researchers I am connected to and it is not any of our family. I hope that there is someone out there that recognizes this bunch as it would be the find of a lifetime and so sad to see everything split up.
Happy hunting
A Canadian Chapple

VAST FAMILY ARCHIVE CHAPPLE-GILL, PRETTY, CAREY, IPSWICH LIVERPOOL
This auction is for a vast family archive. The first item is a letter is dated 1802 and is to James Gill, Esqr., Cable Street Liverpool, the last is in the 1940. There are a mass of letters photos which almost all have the names and the dateson. Through this lot are 3 families, named throughout as Chapple-Gill of Liverpool and North Wales, the Pretty family who married into the C-Gills's in 1908, from Goldrood House, Ipswich and the Paul's which are named here and there, and also Carey. The lot can be effectively described as two lots, one the family photos and letters, and that of related items as newspaper cuttings and postcards sent from all round the world. Uncounted quantity but amounting to 100s and 100s of separate items. Wedding photos, babies, houses, horses, dogs, (almost all without fail named and/or dated) and letters and cards. There are a few old newspapers 1840s etc Times etc which were kept with the photos and these may provide further information. A co!
llection of newspaper cuttings from the 1900-1920s also have more info on these families. A truely terrific lot, must be masses of family or relatives, or perhaps an interesting lot for local history or family tree researcher. The family were by the correspondence leading Cotton traders in Liverpool in the Victorian era, and were very rich.
