Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I can tell you that Linda (Chappell) King, Rachel's daughter, raised my grandmother, who was born 1913. Linda's daughter, Viola, birthed my grandmother Lena. Viola died around 1918, and Linda took her in. I have seen Linda's grave in Willimantic, CT. My grandmother referenced many times that Rachel lived with her and Linda at least for awhile, and insisted Rachel was connected to the Mohegan tribe in Montville. She told stories of Rachel attending ceremonies at the reservation, which was corroborated by other elder family members from that era (early twentieth century). Since Rachel died in 1921, my grandmother would have been about 8 at the oldest when she witnessed any of this, so readers should take that into account when weighing the truth of this family legend.
