Hi Scott,
Thank you so much for that information. Did Eli become a minister after his retirement? It was this inscription on his gravestone which first drew my attention.
I have also been contacted by Robert who is going to forward me a photograph.
many thanks for your help.

Hi Robert,
This is all wonderful information. I had already worked out the Sainsbury/Chappell connection and I shall be featuring both graves on our next walk in August. Any photographs would be great as they add so much to the walk. My email address is francesbevan(a)hotmail.com. Many thanks for replying.

Hi,
What sort of information would you like?
I know that Samuel was raised by his Uncle William, who was a master shoemaker, and that Samuel opened his own boot and leather shop in Swindon in 1876. The shop closed its doors in the 1950's.
Samuels' father was Eli Chappell, who passed away in 1904 in Swindon. Eli was a Tailor who ended up a Baptist minister.

Frances,
My name is Cliffene Chappell Staggs and I still have not been able to
confirmed who my great-grandfather is for a certainty. I am not sure that
Samuel Chappell is in my line of Chappell's. I feel that if he had brothers
and may be in one of their lines, although I do not know that.
Where is the Radnor Street Cemetery? I am in KY, USA. My e-mail is
cliffene1(a)earthlink.net. You may have a hard time getting through because
my spam blocker does not recognize anyone not in my address file. If you
request permission, the message will be saved and I can transfer it.
Robert,
I have two Robert's in my immediate line, both are cousins, father and son.
The son lives in California. Are you by any chance one of those? My
Grandfather is D. W. Chappell and is buried in the Riddle Cemetery in
Rockcastle Co., KY.
Sincerely,
Cliffene Chappell Staggs

Hi Robert,
My name is Frances Bevan and I conduct guided walks of Radnor Street
cemetery, Swindon where I have discovered the grave of Samuel Chappell, a
master shoemaker born in the States but who settled in Swindon and had a
shop at 26 Bridge Street. I think this is the ancestor you mention in posts
you made during 2009. It would be good to swap information as I will be
featuring Samuel during walks we are conducting in August. I hope you will
get in touch. Yours sincerely, Frances Bevan
