I recently came across a photograph in my father's US Army pictures of a Buford Chappell MD. On the back it says Univ of Kansas Hospital Bell Memorial dated Aug 1938. My father graduated Univ of SC Medical school in 1938 or 39. I am trying to remember which. Anyway the picture is of Dr Chappell. I have no idea how my dad knew Dr Chappell but I would be glad to send it to someone if this is the family. It is a nice photo.
Sincerely, Andrew Mance Jr.

Dear Family Members:
Re: Descendants of Robert/Agnes Chappell of Prince Edward Co, VA to
Wicks/Lincoln Cos, GA.
Matthew Chappell, direct descendent in this line of Chappell's has done
DNA testing. His response is as follows.
"My DNA has been compared to several different people who share a distant
known Chappell ancestor in their genealogical records. This ancestor is of
the line from which we originally thought we descended. While I did not
match up with them, they did match up with one another. I can only assume
that they have their genealogical paper work in proper order. But I have
found closure in the knowledge that our Robert and Agnes were not whom we
originally and reasonably thought they were."
Personal thought: If we did not descend through Thomas Chappell of Philip
Chappell line, where is our ancestor? There is some possibility we
descent through John Chappell of Elizabeth Co, VA. This thought is from Phil
Chappell's book which states they were Quakers and moved, some south into TN
and some west into western VA.
Another thought is we descend through the Connecticut Chappell line, which
I am more inclined to accept. The strongest suggestion to me is Religion
and naming of children. It seems to me there is little doubt that we, at
some time, were associated with Quakers.
