I thought I had figured who James Chappell's parents (or at least his father)were, but cannot find it. He did marry Polly Ford on 29 Nov 1803 in Chowan. I guess she died and he then married her sister, Sarah. I believe their father was William Ford and Josiah Ford was their brother.
According to a will for James Chappell written 24 July 1835 and recorded Feb'y term 1836, James names 'Wife Sarah and all my children Elizabeth, Elizar, Henry and Harvey Chappell. Zachariah Evans, Exr.
Will try to keep you posted if I ever find who James' parents were.
Happy searching!
Carolyn....btw, from which of their children do you descend? Thanks.

I'm trying to make connection to this line of Mryland Chappells..My ancestor, James Chappell and his sister Mary were ages 7 and 8 in the 1776 census of Susquehannah Hundred, Harford County, MD.in the home of a MAry Thompson.. James then shows up in the 1850 census of Surry County NC, at age 81...which shows he was born in MD.. Another researcher tells me he once saw a citation showing George as these children's father, and that he left them in the care of Mary Thompson - where they are found in 1776! Do you have any further info on this George, son of Henry, that could help me prove a connection? I can be reached direct by email at LADLSL(a)aol.com.. Thnaks!

Good morning, John
I am researching the Maryland Chappell line through Henry (b 1716; d 1788; m Uphane. This line moved to Loudoun Co., VA in 1790 and eventually to the DC area. This Henry stated that he came from a long line of Marylanders; however, I am not familiar with the points of landing and suspect they could have come from VA originally. Could you please share your information with me?

Looking for any information that can be found on Henry Chappell and wife Uphane (I don't know her last name but I believe she could have been of Scottish descent). Henry was b abt 1716 in Charles Co and reported in 1775 to the militia that he came from a long line of Maryland Chappells. Year of birth is approximated from 1775 Maryland Census and wife's first name from same source. Henry d in 1788 in Montgomery Co, Lower Potomac Hundred.
Children: Henry, Thomas, George all b in Md and served on the Maryland Line. I am descended from Thomas who m. Eleanor Harvey. Thomas and Eleanor moved to Loudoun Co, VA in 1790 and he served in the VA militia. I've traced from Thomas to present and want to continue backward. Thanks!
Julia
