My hubby's gr gr grandfater was Elisha Waugh Chappell, whose son Joseph married Euphenia Clark, their daughter Daisy married Robert Hinton, and their daughter married D.C. I saw a copy here on this site. but there were errors in Phil's book as pointed out by my Grandfather Robert Franklin Chappell in a letter to his daughter. I will be posting the same letter her on my tree Chappell-Chappelle later this weekend.

In 1932 my grandfather Robert Franklin Chappell Jr wrote to his daughter Lillie Mae Chappell Keeble to aid her in her geneology search. I will be scanning and uploading that same transcribed letter this weekend. I have been very successful in tracing my roots beyond Capt John master of the Speedwell and have no proof that he ever actually settled in the Colonies. Back in 1999 I did have a copy of a manefest of one of the voyages of the Speedwell landing in Virginia and included was his Wife as a passenger. But that was starting from way back then coming forward to today with several assumption on my part.
More recently I have come to believe Capt John never settled in Virginia but sailed back to England, and one of his Cousins (probably) Thomas Chappell sailed on the America to land in Virginia around 1630-35.

Hello, My father's ancesters came from Wales. I have been able to trace
back to 1806 to Joseph Chappell, who had a son named John. Joseph's
birthplace is listed as Llanelli, Wales. Does any of this fit with any of
your information ?
Thank You, Mary Chappell Langan

You did not leave an e-mail contact and I am very much interested in the
Chappell's.
I have hit a dead end.
Please contact me at cliffene1(a)earthlink.net
My father was Nevel H. Chappell
His father D. W. Chappell
My grandfather went by the name Daw but I'm not sure that was his real
name. I think it may have been Daughtery and maybe the W stood for White.
I have not been able to confirm this for a certainty.
The courthouse in the county he moved from in KY was destroyed by fire and
I don't know where to go beyond that.
Thanks, Cliffene Chappell Staggs

I have Documentation of the Advent of Chappell's entering the Colonies in
Virginia in the 1600's and there is a tantalizing trail leading to Wales UK
before that era.
