Jan, are you still here? My Chappel line is also from Pike Co, IN!!!
My great great grandmother was Lydia Alice Chappell (1860-1931) married to William Weitman Edwards (1830-1917). Her father was Marion Francis Chappel who was married to a Nancy Catherine Smith. I know VERY little else ecept for some exact dates and that they were all from around the same area in Pike Co, IN! I would bet we are some kind of distant cousins!

Hi Patricia,
Well, I trace back to a Penelope Chapel/Chappell (1818-1887) who eventually came to Michigan, was either born in New York or Ontario. She was the daughter of Samuel Chapel/Chappell who we believe was born in 1794 in New York and came to Ontario and then later into Michigan. Some info suggests that he was the half-brother of Guerdon Chapell (who married Rachel Landon)...they also settled in Michigan after coming from New York. It seems who Samuel and Guerdon's parents were continues to remail a mystery. I still hoping to run into a connection with other Chappell's that came from NY into Michigan.

Hi Scott,
I have documentation of my Chappells back to Samuel Chappell b Mar 17, 1755 in New London, Conn and died Mar 8, 1817 in Monterey, Berkshire co., MA. He married Dorothy Laraby Aug 26 1775. There children were: Edgecomb, Samuel, Enos, Thomas, Lucinda, Esther, Turner, Electa, Eratus, Guy and Ansel. I am a descendent of Enos.
I believe my Samuel was a descendent of Alexander Chappell b abt. 1557 in England. The line would be:
Alexander b. abt. 1557 Bath Abbey, England
Alexander b. 1583 Barnstable, England, d. 1621 in Barnstable, England
George b. Apr 28, 1616, New London, Conn.. d. June 1682 New London, Conn
George b. Mar 17, 1652/53, Hartford, Conn, d. Oct 1712 in New London, Conn
George b. 1692
George b. Dec 3, 1722, New London, Conn
My Samuel b., Mar 17, 1755, New London, Conn
Let me know if you think our Chappells are connected. I would be glad to share my info with you.

Hi All:
I'm researching my ex-husband's family for our children and grandchildren--hitting brick walls. If anyone claims kinship would be most appreciative. They are African American but one census I have listed them as Mulattos.
Jacques b (or Jack) Chappell: born 17 August 1919 in Wisconsin (we think)
Married: Lillian Iyall: b: 23 January 1923 in White Swan, Washington state (Cowlitz/Yakima tribes). Don't have marriage date but around 1947-48.
Father: Samuel Custer Chappell: b: 1881 in Tennesee (don't know death)
Mother: Ida B Perkins: b: 12 May 1994 in Vernon County, Wisconsin d: 16 April 1973 in Seattle Washington.
Siblings:
Custer Chappell b: around 1911
Arlie Chappell b: 29 July 1913; died May 1980 in Seattle
Paul Benedict Chappell b: 12 July 1917 in Seattle
I think Jacques parents moved out to Seattle shortly before Paul's birth and they've lived there ever since.
Thanks!
